Quot i see Burnet falling Way behind in rental property said Rev Bronaugh but when the vote was taken he voted against approving the change. Even mrs Taylor before being forced to break the tie vote said Quot we Are denying the needs of our City As a town we need to grow and we need places for newcomers to live. There Are not Many places in the City left to build Quot both however bowed to the wishes of the roomful of protesters. Quot As an individual i know we need this kind of housing. I can understand neighbors having qualms but i feel our town in order to grow needs housing Quot mrs Taylor said during discussion on the matter rip Burton a member of the commission pointed out that Wilson could build a multitude of Small single family dwellings which would possibly be worse than Nice Multi family dwellings. Quot i m in sympathy with the people who live in that area a said Bronaugh. In presenting his request before the commission Ken Wilson said he does not intend Quot to Rush in a build a Multi Story Quot we want to preserve and enhance the neighbourhood and rental housing is needed in Burnet Quot he said. The planning for Parks program was opened by Terry Colgan Lara Parks development department with a review of the Park planning efforts and its expected outcome. Quot the Lara recreational system has 12 Public Parks on the Highland lakes and Lake than half the River authority Parks in the state Quot he added. Colgan said that Lara has More developed Park land than All the other River authorities combined. Colgan turned his attention to the Quot Why s of a recreation study. Quot the Lara intends to continue providing a wide variety of High Quality Public recreation facilities for citizens within its to county Quot the Best Way to accomplish this is with a recreation plan that considers the needs of the entire Lara District and by going directly to the citizens in this District we can make sure that our plans will fit the needs of All counties Quot Colgan explained. Colgan said the study is divided into three phases and that a final Over All report from abm should be received by the authority sometime near the end of july. Abm s recommendations for what Lara should do will be featured in the report. Quot in August we Hope to present the completed report to the Lara Board Quot Colgan said. Quot the plan should be reviewed and completed and ready to go sometime in october Quot he stated. Colgan pointed out a two fold purpose for the plan. First the plan will serve As a guide to recreational development within the 10 county District and secondly will serve As a guide for the counties within the District he said. Quot we will work hard through an educational process to inform everyone As to How the plan can be he continued Quot we intend to get the plan into As Many hands As possible. Patty 17, is the daughter of or and mrs. Don Bridges. All three girls won the right to be Burnet s official entrants in the miss Highland lakes Beauty contest june 17. As first place Winner Patty received $100 from the chamber of Commerce the two runners up received $25 each Tori a Nyquist was named miss congeniality by the contestants. The Well coordinated professional pageant was staged by the Public relations committee of the Burnet chamber of com fierce. Mrs Pauline Berry is chairman of the committee organist Robert Hall provided music throughout the evening.
