Burnet zoning commission unanimously denied George W. Puckett’s request to rezone his 200 N. Main Street property from R1 to C1. The 104 year old Old Cook House sparked talk of adding a second Commercial Zoning category for office spaces, while historical advocates urged preservation of exterior markers. Seven residents filed formal protest letters.

Three Beauties To Represent Burnet At Contest
Patty Bridges of Buchanan Dam was crowned Miss Burnet and will enter the Miss Highland Lakes Beauty Contest on June 17. First runner up Rebecca Parker and second runner up Susie Owens also earned official Burnet entrants. Patty won 100 dollars. runners up received 25 dollars each.
