Seventh-Eleven Beer License Denied by Burnet County Judge

Burnet Texas January 24 7-Eleven off premises beer license denial by Burnet County Judge B Pogue after hearing concerns from citizens about youth access near E Jackson and Highway 281 near the Tasty Treat drive-in. Judge cites Article 667 5 Section 2 C of the Texas Liquor Control Act and says denial aims to protect public welfare morals and safety. 7-Eleven plans to appeal in district court noting nearby beer outlets and community benefit claims.

Former Burnet Principal Temple Dies at 44

Jack H. Temple of Indianapolis Indiana died Saturday January 25 1975 after a final heart attack ending a career with a pharmaceutical firm. Funeral services were held in Indianapolis with interment in Arlington Texas. Survived by wife Mary two adopted sons Byron and Royal his mother a brother and sisters Temple a 1953 Texas Christian University graduate and former Burnet schools principal in the early 1960s.

Lo-Vaca Cuts Gas Again To Power Pedernales Plant

The Lower Colorado River Authority notified Pedernales Electric Cooperative that Lo-Vaca Gathering Company cut gas deliveries by 50 percent. Faced with shortages the coop switched to fuel oil and burned about 300,000 gallons on Monday until gas resumed at 103 million cubic feet per day.

Burnet Rental Home Vandalized. Tenants Missing

Burnet County Sheriff investigates extensive vandalism at a 106 N. Vandeveer rental in Burnet. Four rooms were ransacked with damaged furniture, dishes, clothing and chemicals. syrup and Lysol odors linger. Tenants Mrs. Jean Craig and her children are believed in Cotulla, while owners Mr. and Mrs. Arnold Warden alerted neighbors and law enforcement. Police and sheriff's office conduct the probe.

City Paving Heated by Moral Obligation and Ordinance 373

Burnet City Council met in a special session January 28 1975 for over two hours to discuss subdivision paving costs and alleged past commitments. City Manager Tippitt cited a $17552 estimate for paving Green Grove Oaks West and Highland Acres using two courses. hot mix would raise costs. Ordinance 373 adopted January 11 1972 assigns paving costs to land developers, but council debated a moral obligation to aid paving in three subdivisions and authorized paving as funds allow and needs arise.

The Burnet County Bulletin announces three new staff hires to expand local coverage. Ben Cruce, former Texas city manager and planner, will handle governing bodies coverage. Burnet County approves Spicewood Beach plat and hires deputy

Burnet County commissioners, in a Regular meeting, approve Spicewood Beach Section 2 subdivision on Lake Travis. They tour courthouse grounds, authorize planting pecan trees, and approve Sheriff Riddell to hire a chief deputy at 750 dollars monthly with county car and radio. A public meeting to discuss Burnet County Hospital Board authority is set for February 1 at the courthouse.
