Killeen businessman and rancher Stan Schlueter announced his candidacy for the Democratic nomination in State Representative District 43, challenging incumbent Camm Lary Jr. in Belton while Lary plans to seek re election. Schlueter is a Bell County native with a Baylor and North Texas State education.

Duncan Seeks Board Appointments for Kingsland School

Tommy Duncan of Kingsland filed as a candidate in spring school elections and expressed interest in a board appointment. Kingsland residents proposed Alberta Allred to replace Harvey Raab, who allegedly moved to Uvalde. The board will not fill the vacancy until Raab submits a written resignation, which was reportedly sent.

Poage Says He Will Run Again for Congress

Burnet officials report Ken Warden will not seek re election to the Burnet Consolidated Independent School District Board, saying he lacks time. He was appointed in May to fill the unexpired term of Howard Adare and may reconsider. President E B Price and Roy Oakley also face April term expirations with uncertain plans for re election.

Citizens To Meet Burnet Group On TARC Affiliation

The Concerned Citizens Organization for the handicapped of Burnet County plans a Feb 12 meeting to decide on joining the Texas Association of Retarded Citizens. The group set 1976 goals including expanding services, a transportation fund, workshop self sufficiency, and a membership drive. A TARC speaker will attend. call 756-6286 for details. Also reports season basketball results for Burnet and Brady, with district play upcoming.
