Mrs. Eva Mitcheltree Barton celebrates 94th birthday

Burnet resident Mrs. Dave Barton formerly Eva Mitcheltree marks her 94th birthday on February 3, 1976, born February 3, 1881 in Burnet County. A birthday dinner was moved to February 7 to include her children and grandchildren. Her lineage includes Granny Mitcheltree and the Barton and Pollard families.

Cowboy Dan Reeves to Speak at Burnet Chamber Banquet

Dallas Cowboy coach Dan Reeves will headline Burnet Chamber of Commerce banquet February 21 1976 at 7 pm in Burnet Elementary School cafetorium. Marcus Rose chamber manager announced Reeves a native of Rome Georgia returned to the Cowboys in 1974 after private business.

Henry Payne chairs Agriculture Committee. Reeves, ex Cowboys star, named in banquet highlight. Voting for 1975 citizen runs to Feb 9 with ballots at the Chamber office on Highway 29.

Not Guilty Verdict For Mary Passmore Golden

A six man jury acquitted Mary Passmore Golden of Silver Creek on a traffic charge for driving at an unsafe speed near Burnet. DPS Patrolman Ray Priest testified the road curve and night conditions made speed unsafe, while Golden's attorney argued speed was not a factor. Justice Chester Kincheloe presided with jurors Jake Strahan Delphine Duke Billie Shelburn Phyllis Daderio Helen Smith and Pat Riddell.
