Deputy Stops Would Be Burglars
Burnet County Deputy Al DuBois halted two would be burglars at Heckmans Automotive Supply in Marble Falls. Kenneth Lee Allen admitted burglary after a brief foot chase. Darrell Glenn Hopkins was arrested hitchhiking on Hwy 281. Both held on $2,500 bond and charged with burglary.

Stratton Seeks Office Space and Staff for County Attorney Role
Burnet County attorney elect Gene Stratton of Bertram will ask commissioners at the Monday meeting to approve space for a full time secretary and dictation and filing equipment. He proposes consolidating Farmers Home Administration and Veterans Service Office into one downstairs office to free the upstairs room for his use and outlines a salary range around six hundred dollars per month. Stratton plans to work mainly from the courthouse and to begin organizing his caseload, with concern for juvenile cases and check theft in the county.

Burglars Use Lae Key To Enter Mobile Home
The Silver Creek mobile home of Walter E. Ussery in Burnet County was burglarized on December 9. A key was used to enter near Lakeside Grocery and two warehouses. A suspect was seen leaving with the stolen property on a pickup bed. Items valued at 65 dollars were taken including dinette set, dishes, silverware, and pots, later recovered by Estes Smith five miles south of the old Bertram Road.

Burnet Hosts First City Christmas Party With Santa Visit
Santa Claus will hand out presents on Burnet square as stores stay open till 9 p.m. The event starts at 7 30 p.m. around the Christmas tree at city hall. Marcus Rose of the Chamber of Commerce notes the old time custom and prizes include a $100 employee prize and gifts from 28 merchants.
