Burnet Bulletin debuts new two unit press

Burnet edition prints on a new two unit press at Bluebonnet Publishing Inc. facility on Hwy 281 South. Ribbon cutting by Jerry Corby and Burnet Chamber of Commerce members marked the launch. Leander High School tabloid was the first publication produced on the press.

Marble Falls group pushes to lower gas rates and shift regulators

About 75 residents at Marble Falls Elementary School voted to keep a steering committee to find lower electric utility rates. They urged legislation to regulate natural gas at the well head and transfer authority from the Railroad Commission to the PUC. Senator Doggett and Rep-elect Schlueter spoke urging open market reforms and better oversight.

Pedernales Electric Cooperative directors scheduled 2 p m Monday to review a monthly bill of 1 310 280 for 45 381 621 kilowatt hours, with a larger past month total. They will hear a Marble Falls rate review status and discuss 223 000 in purchase orders and 289 185 LCRA invoice. They anticipate adding 540 new members and providing school book covers. Hospital rates to rise six percent will boost revenue by about 100 000 with room rates up to 59 and ICU 125. nursery to 15 and ER to 15.

Library Mezzanine Plans Move Ahead At Burnet Library

Burnet library board held a Thursday session to review costs for the new library building. They approved heavy duty doorknobs, selected carpet, and insulation for north block cells. Architect Croft said mezzanine work could begin without an elevator, with funds to come later, possibly in three to five years.
