Superintendent Wilkin explained procedures as the board set a 1.50 per 100 assessed value tax rate, up from 1.80 on 32.5 percent of value. The board approved a 1,735,799 budget and faced future increases under the new law.
The Burnet Bulldog Booster Club delivered Sony video tape gear to the Athletic Department. Head Coach Ray Frady and staff praise the shipment, which includes a recorder, monitor, camera, and playback unit. This year’s inter club tennis tournament between Burnet Tennis Association and Marble Falls Racket Club runs Saturday August 23 at 9 am on Burnet High School courts. Open to BTA and Marble Falls members with a $1 entry fee plus a new can of balls. Competition uses best two of three sets with no ad scoring.
On Labor Day morning at 10 in Wallace Riddell Park Burnet a county wide picnic will gather residents friends and former residents for an all day event. The Burnet Bicentennial Commission and Burnet County Historical Society sponsor games prizes and activities including dancing singing horseshoe pitching dominoes and 42. Prizes will honor authentic Bicentennial costumes.
