Mrs. Taylor Defeated mrs. Williams by Only 47 votes polling 557 votes to mrs. William s 510. Mrs. Taylor polled 332 votes in Burnet while Sally Williams managed Only 232. Bertram carried mrs. Taylor 153 to mrs. Williams 111. Boxes in Lake Victor Briggs Cassie and e. Lake Buchanan carried mrs. Williams. Gene Taylor running unopposed polled 881 votes in his place 3 race. A total of 1,946 votes were cast in the election. And has been inn nays a resident of Burnet since 1938 and is engaged in business with her husband. Running unopposed mayor Howard Benton was elected with 302 votes. Schnelle and Duane Michel retained their seats on the Marble Falls City Council in the same election saturday which showed voters were resolutely for abolishing the City s water District Board. For abolishing the water Board were 323 votes for and 143 against. A total of 470 Legal ballots were cast in this race with 14 ballots mutilated. Mayor Dean Chafee running unopposed for his office received 415 votes. In the Alderman race challenger Merlin Magerkurth received 127 votes to Schnelle s 358 and Duane Michel s 407 the three men were seeking two seats on the Council. Write ins for aldermen were j e. Swan 2 and one vote each for Larry Hall and Gay Bergman. Write ins for mayor with each receiving one vote were Chester Colby Ron Schreiber Weldon Eubank Mike 0 Connor c f Wall and Vivian Colby. Receiving votes to sit on the now abolished water Board were Roy Ramirez 263i, Otis Mueller 245eugene Vett 319 and one vote each to write ins Jewell Dowell Tommy Shi fiet Mike o Connor Kim Wells and Ron Schreiber. Bertram incumbent Fred Felan and candidates Randall Benson and Morris Mcdaniel received the majority of votes and were elected to the Bertram City Council saturday. Felan received 166 votes Benson got 159, and Mcdaniel tallied 84. Candidates Wilbur Allen received 13 votes Fritz Bostic received 63, a a. Klose got 26 votes and John Mendigo received 51 votes.
