Grand prize in the costume contest is a stuffed easter Bunny. First second and third place winners we a receive an easter Basket. The egg Hunt will be divided into two categories for those seven years old and under and one for those eight and Over. Prizes include live easter bunnies and $50 in Cash. Benton becomes new Burnet mayor Burnet Howard Benton was installed As Burnet s newest mayor tuesday during a special meeting of the City Council to Canvas the april 2 votes. Benton a native of Burnet county served on the Council for five years on place 3 before Bergman installed As new of school trustee Marble Falls mrs. Gay Bergman was sworn in As the first woman on the Marble Falls Independent school District Board of trustees monday night during a special dinner meeting. Toasting Spring and a new year for the school Board the first annual school Board dinner honouring trustees and special guests was prepared by the school administrative personnel and trustee wives. Following a canvass of the april 2 votes mrs. Bergman and returning trustee John Mead were administered the oath of office by Jerald Edwards president. After the oath taking Edwards was re elected to the office of president by the Board. Mead was elected vice president and Joe Dockery Secretary. Speaking to the Board superintendent Charles h. Hundley said Board members will Quot always be criticized because you Are in the Arena trying. Three things a Board member must remember is that you should be Active rather than reactive you must learn to live with criticism Quot and they should View the problems realistically. Tommy Shifflett and Chuck Waymer were also installed to the Board of equalization for 1977. Weldon Wilbanks and Dan Derrick alternate will also be serving on this Board during the coming year. June 3, at the High school auditorium this will be an Elimina Tion contest to enter three girls second runner up first runner up and miss Burnet in the miss Highland lakes Beauty pageant which is an official miss Texas universe pageant preliminary contest miss Texas universe competes in the miss Usa pageant to qualify contestants must be from the Burnet consolidated Independent school District. Contestants must never have been married and shall be not less than 17 years of age or More than 27 years of age on july 15, 1977. Contestants must be sponsored by an organization civic club or business sponsor s fat is $25 to help defray the Cost of the pageant. Anyone wishing to sponsor a contestant in this contest is urged to Contact the girl you wish to sponsor and encourage her to enter the contest or Call the chamber office and they will put an applicant in touch with you. Twice once in a one piece swimsuit of their Choice and in formal gown. Judging will be on Beauty of figure and face Charm poise and personality. There is no Talent required.
