Texas 7?235council, school water issues on of Ballo Burnet Council school races to be voted on Marble Falls in addition to determining the Fate of the Marble Falls water District Board voters Here saturday will be fitting two seats on the school Board electing a mayor and a electing two of three candidates to sit on their City Council. Running unopposed for Marble Faits mayor is Dean Chafee. Merlin Magerkurth and incumbents . Schnelle and Duane Michel Are running for two seats on the City Council. Magerkurth and his family moved to Marble Falls three years ago. He is owner and operator of campers Korner on the Colorado River. Prior to moving to Marble Falls he was involved in real estate and farming in Illinois. Michel has served on the City Council for six years. He is a native of Marble Falls and has county interested in joint Landfill Burnet the Burnet county commissioners indicated monday they would be in favor of a joint City county Landfill but will take no definite action until they receive further advisement from City representatives. Meeting with the commissioners monday were City Council members Bill Wilcox James e. Fry and City manager Jack Tippit. The commissioners next scheduled meeting is april la but judge b. Pogue said a special called meeting could be held by action by the Board is needed before then. Tippit said the City has a verbal cminmm4 on Page a2 Cammack Bergman owned and operated a business there for 23 years. Incumbent Schnelle also a native of Marble Falls has served on the City Council for the past 14 years. Unopposed in his bid for place 1 on the Marble Falls Independent school Board is John Mead of spice Wood. Running for place 2 on that Board Are incumbent John Cammack and mrs. Gay Berg Man. Mrs. Bergman making her first bid for Public office is a native of Marble Falls and Mother of two children in grades two and five. Cammack of Spicewood has been on the school Board for three years. During the past year he served As Secretary to the Board. He has also served on the Board s maintenance and insurance committees. Fate of the Marble Falls water District will also be decided saturday As voters decide if the Board of directors should be abolished or continue As established several years ago by the City Council. Burnet in an Odd twist of circumstances four candidates have stacked up in a race for one seat on the Burnet City Council As three other candidates go unopposed. Voters Here will also be filling two seats on the Burnet consolidated Independent school Board when they go to the polls saturday in the school Board race Gene Taylor is unopposed for Bis place 3. Incumbent mrs. Sally Witt iams is being challenged by mrs. Joy Taylor for place 7. In the City election Howard Benton is unopposed for mayor. Also unopposed in that race Are mrs. Elizabeth Seidensticker for place 3, replacing Benton and Derell Cowan in place 5. Taylor four candidates have entered Burnet politics by running for piece 4 on the Council. They Are Steve Moreno Dan Haynes Royal Burton and Albert peek. Perhaps the most Controvert Sial candidate has been Moreno currently a Deputy sheriff in Burnet county. According to an opinion delivered by the Texas attorney general Moreno May not take office if he is elected unless he resigns from the sheriff depart mint. Moreno has said he would not resign. Moreno 29. Has been with the sheriff department for six months. He is a native of Lake Charles la. The show will feature oils and water colors exhibited in an open air setting. The show will be held at the Hill country antique and carpet Center on Hwy. 29 West of Hamilton Creek. The show will Overlook an old Indian marking tree on the Banks of Hamilton Creek near the Highlander inn.
