Marble Falls voters weigh water district and school board seats

Marble Falls voters Saturday decide whether to abolish the Marble Falls Water District Board or keep it. They also elect two of three Marble Falls city council candidates and fill two seats on the independent school board while choosing a mayor. Incumbents Schnelle and Michel seek council seats. Dean Chafee is unopposed for mayor.

Burnet Race Now Includes Four For City Council Seat

In Burnet four candidates vie for Place 4 on the city council while three other council seats and two school board places face unopposed races. Major contenders include Steve Moreno deputy sheriff. Dan Haynes banker. Royal Burton from Detroit. Albert Peek rancher. Incumbents Sally Williams and Elizabeth Seidensticker face challenges. Derek Cowan also seeks Place 5.

Burnet County Eyes Joint City Landfill Plan

Burnet County Commissioners indicate support for a joint city county landfill but will wait for advisement from city representatives. Attending Monday were City Council members Bill Wilcox James E Fry and City Manager Jack Tippit with next meeting set for April 11.

Final Weekend of Highland Lakes Bluebonnet Trail

The final weekend April 2 3 showcases a 220 mile Hill Country route with bluebonnets on Hwy 1471 from Leander to Buchanan Dam Hwy 71 to Llano and Hwy 29 Burnet to Llano. Llano hosts an Old Fiddlers Contest and Burnet plans an April 23 arts show with local oils watercolors set near Hamilton Creek. Local artist Alice Conner painted the winning oil depicting spring flowers.
