Butterfat Deduction Doubled to Meet Bread Spread Competition

Dairy farmers across 42 states unite to boost butterfat deductions aimed at funding advertising and sales in metropolitan markets. Iowa layers a 1-cent per pound deduction for June, with June 1-15 collected by law and paid to the Iowa Dairy Industry Commission, while June 15-30 is voluntary and directed to the Iowa State Dairy Association for the cooperative campaign. A special committee led by Ernest Wright coordinates the voluntary funds, with members from Waterloo, Sibley, Des Moines, Hudson, Independence and West Bend.

Farmers Using Electric Milk Cooling Tanks

The fieldman, Marion Ingebritson, lists W. T. Peterson, east of Forest City, Dick Beekman, Walter Miller, Joe Smith, and Harold Barber, east and south of Buffalo Center, as users of electric milk cooling tanks. He notes there may be others in the county but these are the known names. The tanks can be bought from local dairy and farm supply dealers.
