Meat Prices Limit Livestock Growth Says Extension Director
Gene Futrell, Iowa State University extension economist, warns high feed costs and meat price ceilings will curb expansion in poultry and hog production, with cattle growth also likely to slow into 1974. Rising feed and protein costs add about 10 cents per pound to cattle feed and hog production. Also, gardeners ask why roses fail to bloom. climbing roses lose buds in severe winters unless protected. Winter protection methods include lowering canes and covering with soil. The 1973 Cattle Feeders Day is set for July 12 and Beef Cow Management Day on July 13 at Iowa State University. Visits to Mrs. Ella McDonald at Ledyard noted.
