Officials of Brazos Bryan learned this morning that Bryan won the bid to host the East Texas County Judges and Commissioners Association semi annual convention ending at Liberty today. About 100 judges and commissioners attended. Judge Lindsay of Harrison County will be president and Judge Sturrock of Tyler County secretary. Commissioner Guy F. Boyett of Brazos will serve as vice president.

Pneumonia Fatal To A M Junior Passes Saturday
Funeral arrangements for J. N. Mayton a 24 year old junior at Texas A and M College who died Saturday night in the college hospital from pneumonia will be announced in Fort Worth. Mayton a transfer student from North Texas Agricultural College Arlington entered the hospital Monday after registration. His mother Mrs May Wilson arrived Wednesday. He had been ill several days. Several A and M students accompanied the body to Fort Worth.

Allen Academy Opens as Enrollment Near Two Hundred
The formal opening of Allen Academy's forty eighth year occurred at 10 am on a Saturday with about 200 students registered Thursday and Friday. Red Cross Flour Distribution Aids Brazos County Needy
The Brazos County Red Cross reports first flour distribution totaling 23 040 pounds in 960 sacks to over 300 families averaging five persons each. Funeral Service Held Monday for Babe Geraldine Barnett
Geraldine Barnett two year old daughter of Bessie Barnett of Steep Hollow died Sunday afternoon at 7 45 after a diphtheria illness. Funeral services were conducted Monday at Steep Hollow church by Rev Roy S Holloman of Bryan with interment in the Steep Hollow cemetery. She is survived by her mother four sisters Nellie Gertrude Loreene and Bessie Pearl and a brother Anson.

Austin Citizen Dies of Heart Attack in College Station
James H. Cummings aged 56 years died after a heart attack early Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. J. B. Parkhill in College Station where he and his wife had resided for two weeks. He was a contractor by trade and had suffered heart trouble recently. Survived by his widow three sons and one daughter all of Austin two sisters and one grandson. Funeral directors McCulloch-Dansby handled the arrangements and the body was shipped to Austin with interment at Oakwood Cemetery Sunday at 4 p.m.

The Brazos county grand jury filed its final report in district court. Judge W. C. Davis ordered indicted defendants to appear Tuesday as the criminal docket is set. Ten indictments target W. H. Cole and eight target H. E. Randolph. Bond for Cole is $500 per charge. Randolph faces $500 per charge. Additional indictments name Jessie Steen, Sylvester Steen, Arch Lightfoot, Joe Batton, Robert Batton, Herbert Williams, and Johnny Hollis on charges ranging from assault with intent to murder to liquor manufacture and possession.

Funeral Held For H. L. Durham Bryan Church Crowded
The First Baptist church of Bryan filled to capacity for the funeral of Harry L. Durham longtime Bryan public schools superintendent. Floral tributes poured in from state and local friends as ministers and mourners paid tribute and prayers were offered. The service featured organ music, hymns, scripture by Dr. Thos. Gordon Watts, and tributes from Rev. Wharton, Rev. Day, Rev. McNeilly, and F. L. Henderson among others.

Suicide suspected in Bryan school head H. L. Durham death
The body of H. L. Durham, superintendent of Bryan public schools, was found in his car on the Texas A and M Campus. Authorities reported traces of oxalic acid in containers found with the body and said Durham died by his own hand. The body was taken to Bryan and the inquest continued.
