Ross Named Vocational Agriculture Teacher at S F A High

The Kerens veteran Henry Ross was chosen by the city school board to replace Cyril Luker as vocational agriculture teacher at Stephen F. Austin High School. Luker leaves for a position at Texas Tech in Lubbock. his resignation was officially accepted. The board also approved Hazel Smith Dailey as vocational home economics teacher for Kemp High School and reviewed district enrollment showing 1 837 students across schools.

Methodist Women Plan Zone Program in Normangee

Members of the Woman's Missionary Society of the Methodist churches in this zone will meet on Friday October 6 in Normangee for the third quarter program. Senior at Aggieland Proficient in First Aid

Woodville School Opens With 36 Pupils

The Woodville school north of Bryan opened Monday with 36 pupils enrolled to receive books and assignments. Taught by Mrs. P. A. Tardy, the first seven grades occupy an eight month term. The enrollment was notably large as many students usually miss the first day to pick cotton.

Fritz Wiese displayed a four to five inch bottle chair found in Brazos Valley. An elderly craftsman assembled the chair piece by piece inside the bottle with tight joints and a hidden stopping mechanism to prevent removal. The maker’s name was not known to Wiese.
