Ring Lardner 48 dies after long illness in Easthampton
Writer humorist Ring Lardner died Monday night at his Easthampton Long Island home after a prolonged illness. The 48 year old columnist and author had been in poor health since 1931 and had recently contributed to a weekly magazine. Born in Niles Michigan he rose to fame as a Chicago sports writer and later wrote ballads plays and skits including You Know Me Al and June Moon.
