Rev A F Ainsworth of the First Christian church has returned to Bryan after a month visiting his mother in Indianapolis. He will fill the pulpit this Sunday. Also noted, Dr Lamar Jones rents space in the Astin building to expand his dental practice and adds a chair. A LaSalle dance with the Blue Devils orchestra is postponed due to musician availability. John E McMillan of Dallas joins Bryan’s Community Gas Co as sales director. Major E A Lightfoot returns from Tyler to teach Allen Academy band basics. A new automobile bus for Bryan College Traction Co. is expected this week, touring from the Carolinas.
James Young of Kaufman, former congressman, will speak on the courthouse lawn in Waxahachie Wednesday night at 8 o clock to open Al Smith democratic campaign events. Dallas former congressman Jack Beall will introduce him, marking the first speech in support of the democratic ticket in the community.
Emilio Portes Gil to Be President Mexico Six A. and M. College of Texas suspends six students for hazing until Sept. 1, 1929 following hearings. Five sophomores and one junior named G. L. Cardwell, W. F. Coleman, G. H. McCarty, R. H. Phillips, T. E. Wootten, and E. M. Moore.
A police captain and 22 officers including seven sergeants and two city hall detectives were arrested on extortion and bribery conspiracy charges. They were jailed awaiting a grand jury hearing led by Judge Lewis into bootlegging gang warfare and corruption.
President Coolidge will deliver addresses at Fredericksburg Virginia on October 9 and at the Armistice Day ceremony on November 11. The location for the Armistice day event has not been selected.
Alvin Moody president of anti-Smith democrats of Texas arrived in Dallas to oversee headquarters and plan further actions. B D Sartin of Wichita Falls, manager, will make 15 addresses in and near Brazos county. Oak McKenzie of Bryan, senatorial district chairman, will lead the ten county visit plan.

An ammonia explosion at an ice plant in New Orleans killed Alvin Zerner and seriously injured three others. Damage was estimated at twenty thousand dollars.
Stockholm Sept 26 The government premier Ekman head of the central bloc resigned today after elections showed the government party lost several seats including Foreign Minister Loefgren.

Ballinger coroner's verdict reports Barney Eakin age 49 and Will Drake age 25 died by suicide. Eakin used pocket knife wounds at his Ballinger home. Drake died of poisoning at his Winters residence.
Mrs. Evangeline Lindbergh of Detroit arrived in Constantinople and was hosted by Mrs. Joseph C. Grew at the Summer Embassy. She was introduced to the American colony and Turkish notables, and will teach chemistry at the American College this winter.
