A petition signed by 42 West Side Bryan property owners was handed to Mayor Wilson Bradley requesting that no more carnivals be allowed to appear. The resolution asks the city to prevent by law any further carnival shows or nuisances in the area, stating they cannot tolerate such nuisances.

Aubrey Harwell 30 of Dallas was killed in an automobile crash near Dallas. Paul Johnson was seriously injured, Harwell's neck and skull injuries reported after he was thrown through the windshield.
Kerrville report says Betty O'Dell, three, daughter of J W O'Dell, died from a bullet wound after a rifle being cleaned by a step brother discharged. The tragedy occurred today in Kerrville as family members mourn the loss of the young child.
Rev. Dr. T. J. Holcomb of Sherman First Baptist Church accepts the post of general secretary for the Baptist General Convention of Texas. He will begin Oct. 15 and directs a campaign to raise 235000 dollars to complete the year’s 600000 dollar budget. He succeeds Dr. F. S. Groner who resigned last July and Dr. A. A. Duncan now serves temporarily.
Florida officials report 250 confirmed deaths and thousands needing aid after the mainland hurricane. Palm Beach County Red Cross projects about 400 deaths and 25 million dollars in damage, while border towns and Lake Okeechobee disaster notes show hundreds missing.

City Commission discussed the sale of City Hall with bidders A Schulman and M Schulman. A sale contract resolution was read and will be drafted for next meeting. Petition to amend the charter for use of streets by Bryan College Interurban Company was approved and becomes effective immediately. Estimates on street paving were presented but no action taken. Attending: Mayor Wilson Bradley, L L McInnis, E J Jenkins, J Bryan Miller, F L Henderson, and Guy P Bittle.
M. M. Otten of Steele's Store is named champion pear grower of Brazos County by The Eagle. He sent fruits of exceptional size flavor and sweetness including a 16 ounce pear and estimates harvests up to 20 bushels per tree from 26 year old plantings.
Cotton futures gain 25 points with local spot prices ranging from 16 1 4 to 16 3 4 cents per pound. Prices reflect modest uptick across the market as traders monitor demand conditions and weather implications for the harvest.
Huntsville Sept. 19 John Diboll serving five years from Harris county on an assault to murder charge walked off from Wynne state farm Sunday morning. He remains at liberty as bloodhounds scour the woods. Diboll was an unapproved trusty at the time of escape.
