Bryan public schools opened with speeches by Madison Hall and Judge W C Davis and Hon F Law Henderson. Hall explained a four year plan awarding diplomas or certificates enabling college entry and set 16 units and 64 grade points for graduation. Students are classified X Y Z by ability, with certificates for those not receiving diplomas. About 300 high school and 500 grade students plus a full faculty are introduced as the year begins.

City Manager J. Bryan Miller announces new traffic regulations in Bryan. Main Street is marked with lines and drivers on Twenty Fourth Twenty Fifth and Twenty Sixth streets must slow and drive carefully. On Twenty Seventh Street traffic must stop before turning onto Main Street and traffic on Main Street at Twenty Seventh will not be allowed to make seven eve turns. AUS IN Sept 7 The state board of control reports the average per caput cost of maintaining inmates at eleemosynary institutions in July was 17.80 dollars. For the first 11 months of the fiscal year the average was 23.88. There were 13,319 inmates on the rolls, with an average present of 11,074, and 1582 employees. The lowest per capita cost was 10.07 at the Austrian State Hospital and the highest 55.73 at the Confederate Woman's Home.

Roy D McMillan aged 10 months 23 days died in Port Arthur Texas Sunday evening after a three week illness. Body arrives tonight via Southern Pacific Lines and burial is in City Cemetery under McCulloch Gordon Co. Funeral Tuesday at 10 conducted by Rev H H McCain. W R Goen Dies at Home in Bryan After Long Illness
W R Goen, a longtime Bryan resident of fifty years, died Saturday night at his home after a prolonged illness. The funeral was Sunday at Bright Light Free Baptist Church with Rev J J Tatum and other ministers officiating, burial at Bright Light Dome. He was born November 4 1858 in Auburn Alabama and is survived by his widow, a daughter Icey Goen, and two sons Clyde F Goen and Preston Goen. Pallbearers included J T Dyass and M G Buchanan among others.
