The People's Column urges each county community to hold its own fair this year while noting the Howell Lumber Company Fair is a success. It should not replace the local fairs but serve as a climax uniting communities into a county unit with plans for late September or early October.

Van Eysinga Elected Head as ICJ Opened Reservations

A Geneva conference of the permanent Court of International Justice opened to discuss U S membership reservations. Prof Van Eysinga, Dutch member, was elected president. The first three reservations were adopted: no legal relations with League of Nations, U S can participate in judge elections, and pay a fair share of court expenses. Opposition arose to the fourth reservation about amending statutes without U S consent.

Lions Club members inspect city power plant visit

The Bryan Lions Club hosted Geo. Griffin Jr a former Bryan boy who sang for luncheon guests and then toured the city power plant with City Electrician Warren and Chief Engineer Chas Ramsey. The group viewed a 600 horsepower diesel a 520 horsepower diesel and three 300 horsepower diesels plus the water system. A gold Lions pin was presented to past president Rip Erskine and several guests were introduced. The event ended with praise for city administration and an invitation for all citizens to tour the plant.

New Bryan Teachers Arrive for School Year

Several new teachers join Bryan schools for the coming year. Miss M Holt from Peabody College will teach English at Bryan High School. Miss Southard from the University of Missouri will teach science. Miss Martha Mengrel arrives from San Antonio to teach at Bryan High School. Mr Clyde Braden and wife have rented a Edge apartment for the year and Braden will teach in grades five through seven and serve as football coach. The Braden family comes highly recommended from Cheyenne Wells Wyoming.

Miss Watson Accepts Tabor School Teaching Post

Million Dollar Flood Damages Reported in Galesburgh

GALESBURGH NL Sept 1 Loss estimated between 500000 and 1000000 from a flood that swept through the town damaged basements and business houses. About a hundred homes were washed away or damaged as waters surged through the area.

Boy On Verge of Collapse After Shooting Father

D. E. Sanderson Jr. aged 18 is under guard in Coleman after shooting his father. Sanderson was found in the home yesterday after a divorce suit by his wife, and he surrendered today saying he shot to defend his mother from beating.

Examining Trial For Allen And Keal On Tuesday

Grady Allen and Hilliard Keal were bound over to await the grand jury. Allen bound in 500 dollars and Keal in 200 dollars on felony theft charges. The case concerns the theft of a bale of cotton from Italian Joe Mula in the Millican alien farm area. Trial was held in district court before Justice John M. C A Church Plans New Sunday School Building

The College Avenue Baptist church building committee approved plans by Langford of the A and M College and invites bids to erect a Sunday School structure on the north end of the church lot along East 25th Street. The temporary facility will also host preaching services with a future main auditorium planned south of the lot. Committee members include Dr. L. O. Wilkerson and J. University seeks nearly four million more in biennial budget

Texas regents present a $7.41 million budget for 1925 27 to the State Board of Control detailing $3.846 million first year and $3.566 million second year.
