Man Injured In Train Truck Collision At 25th Street Crossing
John Reid operating an ice station was badly damaged and injured with a wrench to the back bruised hip and cuts when his truck was struck by a Southern Pacific freight at the 25th street crossing. Reid had retrieved the truck from a Mexican man alleged to have taken it without permission. George Salazar captured near Kurten and brought to Bryan will face charges before Justice J. T. Mrs. W. R. Thomas and her daughters Franc is and Jessie with Thelma and Ruby Pritchett were injured when a car skidded on a wet highway after a shower near Cypress on Saturday. Hungry for Mother Nine Year Old Flees Orphanage
Nine year old Chester Bolton ran away from the State Orphanage at Waco to visit his mother. He was found asleep on railroad tracks near Steele's Store and brought to Bryan where Sheriff J H Reed delivered him to relief headquarters. LUFKIN Aug 31 A police dog owned by Justice Smith fell ill with a sore mouth and black tongue, eating and drinking became impossible. After days near death the dog recovered. While playing with the dog Smith found a safety pin point protruding from the animal’s neck, requiring operation to remove it.

Funeral services for Walter B. McGregor were held at 4 p.m. Monday under the Earl Graham Post No 159 American Legion with military honors at Bryan city cemetery. McGregor born October 27 1889 in Wellborn died suddenly Sunday at his home on West 24th Street. He served in World War I with Co L 55th Infantry 7th Division in France and was honorably discharged July 2 1919. He was 44 years 10 months and 5 days old at death.

MEMPHIS Sept 3 At a conference by representative citizens a plan urged the Federal government to redeem unused Bankhead cotton tags or loan farmers money on them. About 20 000 unused tags in Hall county fall 32 000 bale quota and 12 000 bale output projected. Redemption loan at 26 per tag would yield 500 000 for farmers if redeemed from production. Conference warned against speculators buying tags cheaply.
