Elephant handler shot after saloon altercation in city
Jack O Grady, 40, a veteran elephant handler with Cole Bros circus, was fatally shot Sunday near West 22nd Street after an altercation with fellow circus worker Jimmy McCoy. Bill Spadacene, operator of the Silver Dollar saloon, fired two shots. O Grady died at St Josephs hospital. Spadacene faced murder charges with examining trial set for Thursday before Justice R B Grant.

Aged Man Named W. H. Jackson Hurt in Street Collision
A 74 year old man identified as W. H. Jackson of 1028 North Alamo San Antonio was knocked down near the Southern Pacific railroad on 25th street at 6 30 PM. He sustained a fractured collar bone and a badly bruised arm and was taken to St. Joseph's hospital where his condition is described as resting as well as can be expected. The man was a transient who had visited the Red Cross office earlier and had received warm clothing. No definite cause for the accident is known.

Rev. Timothy J. Valenta returned from a two week trip to Fargo North Dakota where he attended the Catholic Rural Life Conference. Nine fawns from Kerrville state game preserve were moved Tuesday to Leon county to join existing stock. Deputy Sam Cavitt says over 100 young wild turkeys are in the area and deer and turkey will likely provide hunting for local residents in a few years.
