Escape by breaking jail bars shocks Brazos County
Otis DeHart, a parole violator held in Brazos county jail, escaped Saturday by sawing bars from a second story window and climbing down on a blanket rope. His father, driving an Oklahoma plated Ford Model A, was later arrested for aiding a felon to escape and released on bond. DeHart, formerly convicted of highway robbery, had been in Bryan after a furlough and linked to other robberies. the break is the first jail escape since 1927.

Funeral services were held for Ina Mae Franklin aged 1 year 7 months and 20 days at the family home and grave in Bryan city cemetery. She died Friday night at 10 45 after a serious illness with bronchial pneumonia. Survived by parents Mr and Mrs Charlie Franklin a sister Irene and a brother Donald Ernest Franklin all of whom were ill with pneumonia. Interment followed the home services. Many flowers and gifts expressed sympathy.

Negro Burglar Caught Under Warehouse Floor
Night patrolman Lee Norwood crawled through a tunnel under the Gordon-Sewell warehouse to reach Joe Thomas, a negro armed with a one inch brace. Thomas was arrested for burglary and jailed. The burglary alarm had sounded Tuesday night and led to the discovery.
