Saturday night county and city officers conducted three raids. William Spadadene on 22nd street yielded over 20 gallons of whiskey and he was arrested then released on a $300 bond. A Black woman was fatally shot on Houston Street near 22nd Street, and a Black man was wounded. The assailant, Haley, concealed by shrubbery, opened fire from a 38 caliber automatic and fled. Oldest Brazos County Resident Frances Luza Dead at 99
Frances Luza, reportedly Brazos County’s oldest resident, died Sunday at 1 p.m. at the home of her son Vincent, two miles east of Bryan. Born January 2, 1833 in Czecho Slovakia, she was 99 years, 9 months and 28 days old and survived by two sons, 11 grandchildren, 34 great grandchildren, and one great great grandchild. Funeral services were Monday at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Bryan, with interment in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Pallbearers included Adolph Putz, Lee Putz, Vincent Luza, John Zak, Charles Barrak, and Will Luza.

Man Takes Life Sunday Morning in Bryan
Ed White a well known Bryan figure who sold the Bryan Daily Eagle in the business section shot himself Sunday morning at his home with his brother James. He died about three hours later and a coroner's verdict classified the death as self inflicted. Funeral services were held at 2 this afternoon at the Mc Culloch Dansby chapel with interment in Bryan city cemetery. He is survived by four brothers James Louis Charles and Gentry and three sisters Mrs Franklin Mrs Winters and Mrs Williams.
