Cotton inspector suffers severe leg injuries at city compress

Prof J H Allen dies after long illness in Bryan
The longtime educator John Hodges Allen died at his Bryan home at 1 50 am after more than a year of illness. He founded Allen Academy in Madisonville and later led the Bryan school to prominence with a 200 pupil enrollment and military program. He is survived by his wife four children and several siblings. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 am at the family home conducted by Rev P T Romsey and Rev R W Adams with a large list of pallbearers and honored guests.
