Elwell Appointed Special Science Supervisor in Rural Texas

Under the New Deal, Elwell takes charge of all functions of the State Department of Education across ten counties. He will disburse Rural Aid funds and supervise school classifications and accreditation while visiting districts to improve services. Elwell notes 68 000 school age children in the region, with 39 000 white and 29 000 Black. He moved to Bryan and will be in the Chamber of Commerce office Mondays.
