Brazos Federation of Demonstration Clubs Holds Meeting

Brazos County Federation of Home Demonstration Clubs met in Bryan on Saturday afternoon at Carnegie Library auditorium with strong attendance. President Mrs P S Mangum opened at 3 pm, secretary Miss Essie Shealey noted attendees from Steele’s Store Tabor Edge Kurten and Reliance. The program on Health featured Miss Peggie Hill, Mildred Horton spoke on Nutrition, Kate Kelly delivered greetings, and Curtis health nurse spoke on Health Methods. The group welcomed Mary Locke and delegates from Grimes County while Texas Public Health talk was canceled due to illness. The meeting emphasized unity of Brazos county home demonstration clubs and a January 1925 meeting planned. attendees listed include numerous named ladies and visiting members.

Vasbinder sole owner of Bryan Auto Paint Shop

D D Vasbinder completed a Monday transfer making him sole owner by buying W W Hall's half interest in Bryan Auto Paint Shop. He now controls all stock fixtures and the business including car painting and top work. A new venture in refinishing old furniture has been added under his leadership.

St Elizabeth Society Celebrates Its Twenty Fifth Anniversary

St Elizabeth's Ladies Society of St Joseph's church marked its 25th anniversary with a solemn high Mass last Wednesday. Rev Jos Klobouk from Trenstatt and Wm Skocek from Caldwell preached as about 200 members received Holy Communion during the service.

Missionary Groups Met at Methodist Church in Groups

The Woman's Missionary Society of the Methodist church held Monday afternoon meetings in four groups at member homes. Group 1 hosted Mrs. P. H. Hensarling at 27th Street with reports of 67 Bible chapters read and 9 sick visits, a Voice lesson on China, a solo, and refreshments. Group 2 met with Mrs. J. H. Beard. six members answered roll call and a China program was given. Group 4 gathered with Mrs. H. D. Cuykendall. a combined Voice program and Japan lesson led to a social hour. Group 5 met at Mrs. J. M. Williamson’s home. fall flowers and a Thanksgiving Psalms quotation marked the session.

Brazos County Boy Winner Free Trip Club Meet Chicago

Winners of 19 prize trips to the International Club Congress in Chicago, plus trips to Fort Worth Fat Stock Show, were announced by Texas A and M Extension Service judges. Thirty club boys from 57 Texas counties earned trips funded by Santa Fe Railroad and Armour and Company.

Willie Jordan and Marie Maigne Married Last Night

Willie R. Jordan state apiary inspector at A and M College and Miss Marie Maigne daughter of Mr and Mrs J C Maigne were married last evening at 7 o clock at the bride's home on Ursuline Avenue. Rev H C Willis officiated in a simple ceremony attended by immediate family. The groom, a 1922 A and M College graduate, will visit Austin for the Thanksgiving game then Floresville and other South Texas points before returning to Bryan to live with the bride's parents for now.

Bishop Byrne Visits St Josephs Church

Right Rev. C. E. Byrne bishop of Galveston visited Bryan and missions on Sunday. Confirmation took place at 10 o clock in St Anthony's church with 12 receiving the sacrament. At 11 o'clock 68 were confirmed in St Joseph's church. At 4:30 p.m. 13 were confirmed in St Mary's Calvert. At 7:30 p.m. in St Mary's Hearne 21 were presented for confirmation. The bishop spoke fatherly and offered advice to the candidates.

Presbyterians Celebrate New Sunday School Annex

The Presbyterian church marked a day of rejoicing as the Sunday school moved into a bright new annex with a procession, sermons, and thanks to the building committee led by E. H. Astin. Maj. W. G. Martin urged home mission work while the pastor received a lamp as thanks. The complex adds classrooms, a dining area, and improved facilities in Bryan.

Bootleggers Nabs by Officers After Night Stop

Officers Offa Williams K T Tillis and Deputy J F Griffin nabbed three alleged bootleggers on North Main near Parker Gin last Saturday. A car inquiry led to two more bottles tossed under the vehicle and eight bottles found at Jean Kramer's home. The three suspects Virgie Nero driver John Phillips and Ben Strain were jailed and released on $500 bond after an examining trial pending district court action.

Rally Day Reports From Brazos County Boys and Girls Clubs

The Brazos County Boys and Girls Clubs held Rally Days across communities to showcase a year’s work and plan a bigger program. Reliance reorganization elected Alma Mathis as president and listed officers. Edge Club cooked meals and held cooking lessons with 24 girls in official attire while women discussed nutrition. Edge members, teachers, and canning facts highlighted community improvement and Vita mines education.

Nov 25 College Station report: two A and M band students, H L Elliott of Corsicana and P E Zimmerman of Coleman, lose most personal effects as a fire damages a bungalette dormitory about 7:15 this morning. Zimmerman awakens choking on smoke and rescues one wardrobe trunk. flames stay inside the closed interior. Both students had extra clothing for the Austin trip but remain otherwise provisioned for the Turkey Day game.

Death of Mrs Tom Hennessy noted in Bryan

Mrs W B Cline mourns her mother Mrs Tom Hennessy who died Monday at 3 a m at Woodville age 70 after long illness. Surviving relatives include Mrs J S Burtis, Mrs J H Allen, Miss Mae Burtis and other nieces and nephews. Funeral held today at Huntsville with burial in family ground there. Bryan and Brazos county friends extend sympathy.

Miss Mary Laura Fetheredge and Aubry Jones were united in marriage Saturday evening at 7:30 at the home of Rev. and Mrs. C. B. Thompson in the Harvey community. Rev. Thompson officiated the ceremony.

Scouts Badge Ceremony At District Court Room

About 25 to 30 adults attended a big Boy Scout meeting in the district court room with around 38 scouts taking tests and earning badges for passing them. Dr E P Humbert urged more programs to justify the court room, while local leaders and visitors observed knot tying and other scout work. Plans begin for a 1925 fundraising drive across Brases Valley Council including Madisonville Navasota Caldwell Somerville.
