Fire destroys M W Sims Brazos bottom barn
A large barn on the M W Sims farm in Brazos bottom was burned last night just before 11. The loss totals about 9000 dollars with no insurance. Sims had 5000 plus bushels of corn and a full car of alfalfa hay stored in the barn along with farming implements and wagons. Efforts to fight the fire were limited by available equipment and manpower. Daily Eagle peers offer sympathy to Mr Sims and his friends.

United States Rescues Young Americans From Foreign Armies
The United States has freed more than a thousand boys aged 16 to 20 who enlisted in European forces during World War I. The State Department handles daily requests for release as consular officials negotiate with foreign governments. Britain had released under 21s on US request and may drop the age limit to 18 as conscripts come of age militarily.

British war widows to be moved to Canada for marriage

Death of Mrs Mary Tolson in Bryan Texas 1916
Mrs Mary Tolson died at age 77 after a long illness. Born in Alabama and raised in Mississippi she joined the Baptist church in Siloam before moving to Texas. She leaves two daughters three sons and many grandchildren and was praised for her cheerful faith and devotion to family. Burial was in Bryan cemetery.

Rancher James McAllen Dies Worry Over Killing
James B. McAllen, who eighteen months earlier killed three Mexican bandits and dispersed others in a ranch battle, died at his Brownsville home today. The illness is said to have been caused by worry over the killings.
