Texas Steel Company bets on East Texas ore

The Texas Steel Company based in Beaumont has bought ore to run its plant for forty years. Official L P Featherstone says ore from Cass, Marion and Unshur counties is as good as the best non Bessemer ore from the Mesaba range. This marks Texas first large scale steel industry effort, following failed state attempts to lease ore beds in East Texas.

In Columbus New Mexico on November 28 six teen thousand pounds of dressed turkeys 2000 pounds of cranberries 100 boxes of apples and oranges 4000 pounds of plum pudding and 7000 pounds of candies and other dainties were shipped south for the troops.
