A and M Judging Team Wins Sheep at Kansas City Show

Texas A and M College International Livestock Judging team took first in sheep judging at the American Royal Show in Kansas City Missouri. The Aggie team placed fifth overall among thirteen teams with Kyle ninth individually in the sheep event.

Community Notes Show Visits and Thanksgiving Service

Buckner Orphan Home quilt drive at church yielded one quilt and one comfort with 79 attendees. Thanksgiving program at the church featured student readings songs and a focus on Harvey school safety and benevolence.

Orphans Fund Drives Support for Africa School

Beef Canning by Negro Workers Near Edge

Fifteen families cooperated in canning beef belonging to Walter Kelly on the Henry Koontz farm near Edge under supervision of home demonstration agent Laurel ia Holden and district agent J C A Connor. A total of 110 cans were produced, using No 8 and No 2 sizes, with roast, steaks, stew, and chile among the canned meats. The new agent introduced fly control methods and canned food care alongside the canning demonstration.

The event thanked residents of the section and Mr and Mrs Koontz for their support during the demonstration held at their home. Special assistants were two Kemp high school students Kath leen Wade and Cleo Walton from Bryan.

Lamar Williams returned to Bryan from a deer hunt with two bucks last fall and again this year he bagged a limit. The report notes Williams repeated the successful hunt during the recent season.

Mounting deer hunt ends with multiple success stories

A four day deer hunt near Fredericksburg concluded with a Bryan party tallying 1% deer killed. The group included 16 hikers from Navasota Wellborn Franklin Madisonville Shiro and Houston. Notable participants were Offa Williams formerly of Bryan now in Houston and Elmer Reed of Navasota. Phocian Parten of Shire and Douglas Royder of Wellborn each reported two kills.
