Rye Community Meeting Draws Crowd Tuesday
Approximately 65 people attended the Rye community meeting Tuesday night sponsored by the Bryan Lions club. County Agent C. L. Benson urged reports on the A. and M. farm plan with a Dec. 1 deadline. Albert Opersteny, a 10-year-old Bryan musician, played accordion numbers, followed by A. A. Newcomb and Chester Floyd on violin and guitar. The attendance prize went to Antone Wolf. Luke Patranella and C. L. Benson represented Bryan.

Cotton Investigation Trip Told to Bryan Lions by Mogford
Prof. J S Mogford of the Agriculture department spoke to the Bryan Lions noon program on a study trip with college students through cotton regions in the United States and Europe. He cited about 14 million acres under cotton in Texas and around 4000 cotton gins while noting English mills viewed American cotton with interest.

Funeral Rites Held For Willard W Chambers And Douglas Robertson
Telegrams report death of Willard W. Chambers from injuries after a Sunday night auto crash near Haskell. Chambers, once in Cameron and later Fort Worth, died in Stamford hospital after a leg and arm injuries. Survived by widow and one child, sister Mrs Gillis and brother Ralph. Three Buildings Burn on Caldwell Square Causing Heavy Loss
A fire at Caldwell Square about 3:30 this morning destroyed Middleton’s cafe and Poch and Wolx barber shop with the building, damaged Mrs. J W Thornton’s grocery and slight damage to T B Parkhill’s building. Total damage about 11500 with insurance covering most losses. The blaze threatened to spread but river bridge collapse fears halted Bryan fire department response.

Two Ex Bryan Men Die and Are Injured in Auto Crush
Douglass R Robertson a former Bryan resident was killed in a head on collision between Haskell and Stamford Sunday night. Willard W Chambers a former Bryan resident was badly injured and transported to Stamford hospital. Robertson left a wife and his mother and brother to mourn. Chambers had been in the Fort Worth area and maintained ties to local business interests.

Hog’s Gracious Return From Packinghouse to Texas Farm
A hog shipped to Sabine and Calcasieu region by a Texas packing firm hitchhiked 81 miles back to the Miller farm in Reeves Louisiana. G W Miller identified the animal by its distinctive marks, confirming it as the same hog raised at the Miller home. The voyage crossed through swamps bayous and rural routes before its homecoming.
