Oil Indications Near Bryan Elevate Local Hopes
W B West of Blanche L Association reports encouraging signs from the Wixon creek well seven miles from Bryan. Drilling paused at 515 feet due to water issues now being solved by a pipeline, with drilling expected to resume Friday. Strong gas pressure increases with depth, feared blowouts, but mud walls the gas. Whether oil is found hinges on reaching 1,000 to 1,200 feet within a week. Lignite deposits above 400 feet, fifty feet thick, may extend to 100 feet higher, offering a promising mining prospect in Texas.
