Methodist church concludes last quarterly conference in Bryan

The Bryan Methodist Church held its final quarterly conference of the year with praise for Rev. H C Willis and the Woman’s Missionary Society. Oak McKenzie named Sunday school superintendent, C E Jenkins elected district steward, and a new Bryan pastor expected after Mount Pleasant conference. Italian Methodist church organized with Rev Bruno Martinelli as pastor and a $10000 building project noted.

Bryan Colored Team Triumphs 20 to 0 Over Calvert Colored

The Bryan colored high school football team defeated Calvert colored high school at West Side park by 20 to 0. Coach Dr. Thompson used nearly all players to find the best lineup. Calvert had a good but inexperienced squad and Bryan is seeking new material after losing five players last year. Thompson expresses satisfaction with the opener.

Night Watchman Catches Booze Car in Texas City

Joe Mitchell L D Young and Anna Jones Negroes held in Brazos County jail on charges of transporting intoxicating liquor after a night watchman stopped a lightless Ford in Bryan. Officers Williams and Tillis aided by Anderson and McKenzie seized five new casings, a Colt automatic, $500 in cash, and a warehouse receipt for cotton found in the car. Kinnard Home Burned Near Bryan In Sunday Fire

A fire near Bryan destroyed the Kinnard family home and contents, causing an estimated loss between 10 000 and 12 000 dollars. A. W. Kinnard and P. A. Tardy escaped with only the clothes on their backs. Kinnard was burned while salvaging papers. The garret blaze origin remains unknown. The families now rent a cottage while rebuilding.

Bryan High Still Has Chance To Win District

Bryan High defeated Rockdale 40 to 0 on Friday with a dominant performance. Cameron earlier beat Rockdale but later defeated Bryan, and Caldwell beat Cameron 13 to 0, eliminating Cameron from the district race.
