Three Men Die After Contact With Fallen High Voltage Wire

Conroe, November 12. Three men were killed instantly when a heavy voltage line fell across a sidewalk after touching a telephone line. J. R. Beakley a local merchant Trav is Rye of Taylor and W. R. Rye of Milvid died. Leslie Harris was severely burned. It is believed Beakley walked into the fallen line and others tried to help.

Police Sergeant Shot By Escapees In Nashville

Nashville November 12 A B Wood police sergeant was shot to death while being taken to headquarters by four men he had arrested for stealing an automobile. The four captors escaped after the shooting leaving the city to mourn the officer's loss.

Armistice Day events on Main Street featured an eight o’clock band concert by Allen Academy brass, a 10 a.m. sacred concert by the Bryan Pastor’s Association with Rev. L. Guy Ament presiding, brief sermon by Rev. H. C. Willis, and sacred music led by Prof. Anton Ernst. Local ministers from several churches attended.
