Charley W. Gardner Dies at 82 in Hearne

Charley W. Gardner aged 82 died Saturday morning May 24 3 22 at the home of his daughter Mrs George Dunn in Hearne after a three week illness He was a Confederate Army veteran wounded at Shiloh April 6 1862 He was born April 1842 Water Valley Mississippi and had six surviving children and sixteen grandchildren. Held and family return from Southern States trip

Dr John A Held and his wife and son Colbert came back to Bryan after a three week journey through Natchez and Atlanta. He spoke at the Southern Baptist Convention about the $75 million campaign and future budget plans for mission and education. Brazos county mourns the death of R N Batten a 52 year old farmer and Baptist church member from Zack who died Thursday afternoon after weeks of illness.
