State to distribute $7 apportionment per pupil next month
The Texas State Department of Education announced that the total 1924 25 apportionment of 13496400 will be paid off by next month 1321600 scholastics were enumerated this session and the state apportionment was 14 per child With the available school fund carrying a heavy balance the department is sending 7 per capita or 9251200 to schools this month A total of 6 per capita had preceded it leaving 1 per child or 1321600 to be paid by April 15 the earliest in years after the payment of the 14 a cash balance will accumulate and the board will decide whether to grow that balance for 1925 26 or add another dollar to the current apportionment for a total of 15 this year.

Langhorn Found Guilty of Murder in Texas Slaying
William Langhorn Jr. was found guilty of murdering Valeria Zapalac in La Grange after a jury trial that ended last night. The defense argued insanity. the verdict carried a death sentence recommendation and a motion for a new trial will be filed. Langhorn, 25, son of Dr. W. S. Langhorn of Chappell Hill, faces appeal if the motion fails. The crime occurred February 3 and included an attack on Zapalac’s sister.

Joe Trantcost aged 23 years 11 months died Tuesday morning in Bryan Hospital from an injury received Sunday afternoon during a Mudville versus Cameron Ranch baseball game where he umpired. He collapsed after a liner struck him near the ear and died after hospital treatment. Funeral arrangements set for Mudville and St. Anthony's Bryan. Survived by wife son Peter mother Stella Trantcost three sisters and two brothers. Born Brazos County April 24 1896.
