Mr and Mrs Maniloff are in Dallas on business. Mrs George A Adams returns to Bryan with her nephew George B Butler from Austin. Mrs Susie P Butler returns home after a visit in Bryan. Cecil G Dyer leaves Bryan for a Houston job. Mrs Margaret Oliver and six year old daughter arrive from Washington DC to stay with Mr and Mrs Glenn Stinnett on Houston Avenue. Oliver has joined the government program at A and M College.
Dallas attorney M N Chrestman president of the Texas Civil Judicial Council called a meeting to be held in Bryan April 10 and 11 at 2 pm. Judge W C Davis arranged the program with Judge Richard Critz of the Texas Supreme Court and Judge Royal R Watkins indicating their committee would attend. Sessions at the La Salle hotel will involve Texas bar members and judiciary beyond the council, with Judge Davis handling entertainment plans.
F E Mistrot, long a leading Bryan merchant and later Galveston retailer, died Friday in St Louis at 1 am. Funeral and interment were in St Louis. Survived by wife, two daughters Mrs Harrison and Mrs W T Withers of Portland Ore, son I B Mistrot Jr of Waco, and brothers G A Mistrot of Houston and B E Mistrot of Kilgore.
Bryan city commissioners adjourned to discuss a pay as you go street improvement plan for older paved streets. They weighed re paving with rock or asphalt and budgeting for several years without warrants or bonds. They also reviewed rural electrification of Brazos county and Bryan Utilities Plant as a power source with a non profit patron group and long term city option. A traffic ordinance for College avenue and Highway No 6 and a 10 foot widening of Baker avenue near Stephen F. Austin high school were debated on first reading.
An agricultural association was organized at Kurten Thursday night with W. T. Kelley as president J. P. Gilpin as vice president J. O. Wilson as secretary treasurer and J. M Hofman and Adolph Oper steiy named as delegates to the county convention to be called once other communities complete local organizations
Settlement occurred Monday in district court approved by Judge W C Davis in the suit of Mrs Sarah Goodman et al against Pecker-Astin Hardware Co. The hardware firm pays 1000 dollars to the plaintiff and retains possession of the home deeded to the company years ago.
Burglars entered two Bryan homes Saturday night and three Millican businesses Friday night seeking cash not valuables. Mrs. J. M. Gordon and John Patranella homes were entered. a gun was taken. Millican Crawford and Cowan stores and the postoffice were robbed with about $4 taken from Cowan and a suit of clothes stolen from the postoffice.
Washington reports Rep. Luther Johnson recommended Wilson Bradley for a four year term as postmaster at Bryan. Bradley, cashier of First National Bank and Bryan city commissioner, led the civil service list among 14 applicants. If confirmed he will resign as finance commissioner to take the political post.
Braggo Patronella a longtime Italian Bryan resident died Friday at 7 30 AM after a three week illness. He arrived in Brazos county in 1882 and became a prominent farmer and merchant. Surviving are his widow five sons Frank Charles John Joe Pateonella and Luke Patronella with services at home 9 30 AM and St Anthony's church 10 AM. Burial at Bryan Catholic Cemetery with six nephews as pallbearers.
College Station Texas March 14 Farmers advised to plan 1936 plantings by last year’s retired acres and use soil building crops for conservation. Jack Shelton says the act classifies crops as soil depleting conserving and building and payments may be based on land productivity with proof of compliance.
Funeral services for the late Albert S. Denman of Beaumont were held after his death on March 14. The body was shipped to Bryan by train with local and out of town relatives attending. The graveside service at City Cemetery in Bryan was led by Dr. W H Andrew with a Beaumont choir performing and pallbearers from both Beaumont and Bryan named.
Dr. Webb Buchanan and Jno. MM. Lawrence Jr. joined County Agent C. L. Benson in Tabor for a club meeting Friday evening to receive guidance on fall free fair exhibits. The gathering showed strong interest in fair preparations and featured music by the post office string band.
Wednesday night the Prospect community organized an agricultural association aiming to affiliate with the Texas agricultural association led by H. G. Lucas of Brownwood. Officers elected include A. H. Keller as president and W. C. Manning as vice president, with Arthur Yeager as secretary treasurer. Delegates A. H. Keller and W. C. Manning will attend the county meeting once other communities form groups.
Mesdames R O Allen W B Cline R J Newland and Theodor Mahler left Wednesday for Dallas to attend the State Methodist Woman's Missionary Council. Committee meetings Thursday and the council from Friday to Tuesday inclusive.
Series of strong gas waves hit the J. H. White Jr. farm near Wixon Creek hitting the Herzog family causing near asphyxiation. Officials cite possible leaks from an oil pipeline near a deep well location as the likely source while residents flock to the White farm for updates.
The Treasury reported income tax collections for the first 16 days of March at 28,175,803 dollars, up 46.4 percent from a year ago. Total year-to-date receipts reached 361,428,990 dollars, a 45.6 percent increase over last year.
A local talent cast staged in Bryan will present Three-Cornered Moon a sparkling comedy to benefit the rural circulating library. Mrs W E Neeley county school superintendent announces the performance directed by Mrs Louise Brownlee with Iola Barron as Mrs Rimplegar and Maurine Neeley as Elizabeth.
The District of Columbia Supreme Court will hear March 25 on an emergency bid to block government participation in the Texas Colorado river and Brazos river projects. Justice Oscar Luhringer had set a hearing for today on a temporary restraining order sought by seven Texas utility companies with two modifications allowing salary payments and materials already under contract. The department plans to oppose the injunction as construction continues.
The Eagle editor Mrs. Lee J. Rountree heads to Port Arthur to address the Port Arthur Business and Professional Women's Club at its Centennial banquet at the Goodhue hotel. She travels with Mrs. J Sidney Smith and others and will stay overnight in Orange with Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Carrier.

Mrs Addie Brewer Yeager aged 65 3 10 died Sunday at 445 pm at her east Bryan residence after a long illness She was born December 5 1870 in Johnson County and lived in Brazos County later moving to Bryan She leaves a daughter Mrs A K Brown and three orphans James W Young Gertrude Dixon Louie Yeager The funeral was held Monday at 430 pm from Mrs A K Browns home conducted by Dr L B Elrod Interment Bryan City Cemetery McCaulloch Dansby funeral directors in charge Pallbearers were M B Parker J W Batts J Sidney Smith Chas S Gainer S C Williams and J H Conway
Charges filed against Tom DeHart and J P Hassell allege operation of taxicabs without a license. Their cases set for trial Monday. Arnold Murray O G Carson and Dick Moseley licensed cab operators face charges for picking up passengers on 26th Street and College Avenue where they are prohibited. No trial date set.
The city will launch a mosquito control drive this week by oiling water-prone deposits. Residents should remove tin cans tires and other trash where water collects. Underground cisterns owners should notify health authorities who will oil them to prevent breeding. Authorities say cooperation can abate the nuisance regardless of rain.
Secretary Henry A. Wallace announced the reorganization of the AAA establishing five regional divisions to administer the new soil conservation program. Cully A. Cobb named director of the southern division covering ten states. Senate conferees agreed to 440 million for the first year of the farm subsidy law. Wallace warned farmers that program development may require modifying or rejecting some regional conference recommendations.
J. J. Brown of the Texas education department spoke at the Brazos County Federation of Women’s Clubs outlining state and federal funding for crippled children. He noted $50,000 yearly for vocational rehabilitation matched by federal funds, $50,000 for hospitalization, and a planned $116,000 from Social Security. About 700 disabled Texans receive vocational training and 720 have been treated at hospitals since Sept. 1, 1935. Brown, also executive secretary of the Texas Society for Crippled Children, shared “before” and “after” photos of the work.
