Election in Brazos County Elects Trustees for Education

Important election set for the first Saturday in April will choose two county trustees and trustees for every common school district in Brazos County. The county board includes the two county trustees the county superintendent and three holdovers. Ballots and blanks were sent by County Judge Maloney and County Superintendent E B Williams.

Revival meeting planned by Pastors' Association in Bryan

The Pastors' Association met at Hon. W. C. Davis's office with Rev. C. T. Tally presiding. All pastors attended except Rev. J. C. Welch. Committees from Methodist Baptist Presbyterian Free Baptist Christian were formed to organize a cooperative revival beginning April 2. John A. Moore elected treasurer. D. L. Weddington secretary. meetings set for Thursdays at 1 o'clock through March.

Officials Indicted at Austin Hit by Grand Jury

Karl L. Druesendow Harris County tax collector and C. C. Quillen former tax office keeper with L. B. Smilie of Austin were indicted by the Travis County grand jury. Druesendow charged with misapplication of tax funds totaling 42000 over three years. Quillen and Smilie indicted for aiding him. Druesendow released on 15000 bond. Quillen 2000. Smilie 5000. Indictments returned yesterday. names released today and arrests made.

Biography of W L Edge recounts Civil War service and Texas life

A biographical sketch of the late W L Edge born 1846 in Alabama, recounts his Civil War service with Company F Third Georgia Reserves, battles in Georgia and South Carolina, marriage to Jane Cloud, subsequent Texas settlement in Brazos County, multiple marriages, children, and final years in Port Arthur where he died February 25. Survived by wife Mrs Cora Little and several children, plus siblings and relatives in Texas and Georgia.

Fine program at Tabor High School

Last night a large crowd attended the exercises and debate at Tabor High School. The program featured readings essays and dialogues and a debate on whether direct tax or legislative appropriation better funds higher education. Miss Madama Ball won the debate and will represent Tabor in the county contest on March 25 with remarks by Judge W C Davis and visits from education leaders. Uncle Joe Rasco of Madison County is visiting.
