Government Pool To Help Growers Of Cotton Is Up
Capitol action centers on an emergency plan to create a government cotton pool as incentive for farmers to curb 1938 production. The measure, approved by the Senate and House Agriculture Committee, would fund pool purchases from government stocks and Red Cross relief sales. Farmers reducing 1932 output at least 30 percent would receive non negotiable options to buy pool cotton at market price. The plan relies on Reconstruction Finance Corp financing and unknown pool size.
