W Metro, manager of the East Texas Chamber of Commerce, urges making Bryan a convention city to boost Texas tourism and development. He highlights municipal aud aims to support La Le Hotel and state agricultural progress, praising Bryan’s clean yards and attractive premises as foundations for growth.
Mrs. A. ER Stone arrived in Bryan from Houston and joined Mr. Jone as manager for American Away Express Company. Mrs. Stone and Mr. Kana will make Bryan their home again after years away and receive a cordial welcome. Mrs. Ed Shepard of Fort Amador Panama, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Guy P. Bittle, arrives in Bryan. Captain Shepard plans to join later. Mesto Howell hosts Thursday at 1 oclock at the Country Club honoring Miss Nobie Webb and Mrs. M. Phillips of Iowa. Mr. and Mrs. W. W. Griffin entertain this week for Mrs. S. F. Reding, sister of Mr. Griffin, visiting from Washington, D. C.
W N Blanton Bryan Visitor and East Texas Chamber of Commerce manager from Longview meets Bryan and Brazos County Chamber of Commerce directors. Brazos county led the region last year in raising its chamber status as Blanton comments on Bryan’s growth and offers constructive criticism for city development.
The Toy Theatre group met for a program and social hour at Mrs J W Dyer's home on 29th Street Saturday evening. About twenty pupils in expression taught by Paul Stevens attended, including Louise Dyer Lucy Park Tomas Barron Maurine Neeley Margaret Benson Sue Wright Lillie Kaplan Rosie Kaplan Bess Brown Jo Anna Tramen Wayne Davis Johnny Phillips Joe White J L Reese Jr.
The Associated Press reports that the Senate Foreign Relations Committee approved the new French arbitration treaty on February 29 in Washington. The move advances ratification by the United States.

In Dallas on Wednesday leaders from Southern Methodist Episcopal educational institutions in Texas plan a joint meeting. Bishop John M. Moore Sam R. Hay and Dr C C Selecman lead the conference with 200 attendees including 49 presiding elders and delegates from six Texas annual conferences plus college presidents and officials.
The funeral for Mrs Mariah Hillier aged mother of Chas F Hillier was held at 2 30 pm from the home of her daughter Mrs C C Langford in Franklin The services were led by Rev W W Daup Episcopal rector of Ryan assisted by Rev J L Wallace Baptist pastor at Franklin Interment followed in the family plot at Franklin Cemetery with rites by the Order of the Eastern Star The McCulloch Dansby Co oversaw arrangements and Bryan friends attended as pallbearers
The Senate Commerce committee on Wednesday approved a flood control bill for Mississippi totaling 225 million dollars to be paid from federal funds. The measure aims to fund flood prevention and relief projects across the state. The action comes via Associated Press reporting.

Two men robbed the State Bank at Niotaze Kansas about 30 miles west of Coffeeville this morning escaping in a car with $25000. The incident occurred today and police are seeking suspects.
Members from multiple churches gathered at the Episcopal Church in Brazos County for the International Day of Prayer from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The Brazos County Federation of Church Societies, led by president Mrs. Webb Howell, organized the event with Episcopal Guild members hosting at the Parish House. The program featured morning and afternoon sessions with talks on religious themes, hymns, prayers, solos, and discussions on missions in Latin America Africa and the Orient, fostering fellowship and cooperation among church groups.
In agricultural administration W. E. Farmer is raised to manager of the Bryan division of the Western Public Service Company. 35 year old Farmer, a Bryan native, graduated from Sherman high school in 1921 and after A. and M. work has served in the Bryan office and as cashier at the Conroe plant.
This afternoon at three in Bryan Mrs. Harvey Wedding ton of Houston hosted a social affair at the Wallace home to announce the engagement of Miss Katherine Higgs of Bryan to Mr. Louie Pistole of Big Springs. The couple plans to wed April 11, 1928, with full society coverage to follow in the Eagle.
Fritz Jericho charged with unlawful possession and sale of intoxicating liquor. case continued to next term due to absence of material witnesses. The sole district court matter tomorrow is the State versus Fred Winter for driving while intoxicated.
Bryan Folk traveled from Bryan to Franklin today to attend the funeral of Mrs. Mariah Hillier mother of Chas. F. Hillier. The service was held at Franklin cemetery at 2 p.m. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Roman Mrs. Alice Roman Mrs. L. H. Tucker Mrs. M. G. Mitchell Chas. E. Jenkins Mr. and Mrs. E. J. In Corsicana on February 29 a disease outbreak affected 147 children at the State Orphans Home. Officials report the influenza as mild but widespread among the resident population.

NACOGDOCHES Feb 29 Tom Lambers said he dropped an investigation into an alleged attack on O J Wilkerson a freshman student at Stephen F Austin College who was found bound and blindfolded Tuesday. He said Wilkerson could have freed his hands since there were no signs of a scuffle.
J Webb Howell, president of the Chamber of Commerce, returned from Jackson Mississippi where he attended a meeting to reduce cotton acreage. He was named a delegate by Governor Dan Moody.
Washington Feb. 29. A hurricane that brought the pink boll worm into the United States and Mississippi flood last year has increased the work of the Department of Agriculture in fighting cotton pests. Experts testified before a House Appropriations subcommittee that the hurricane helped spread boll worms by scattering bales of Mexican cotton over Texas fields.
O. W. Sherrill president of City National Bank and Chamber of Commerce led Georgetown visitors W. W. Edwards A. W. Carlson and George Bayer to Bryan to review the Bryan Plan for marketing cotton. They met Jno M Lawrence and J Webb Howell of the Bryan Chamber of Commerce and left convinced Bryan's plan outshines others. The group spent the afternoon at A and M College, a first visit for most except Sherrill.
Mrs. Waldrop reports the Bryan Woman's Club civics and conservation committee completed the plan to plant 350 live oak trees along College Drive from Bryan to the Country Club. The project involved J E Blair, J Bryan Miller, Judge H O Ferguson, F J Kyle, local nurserymen, and support from I G N rail, the Country Club, and property owners. Funding and watering were organized, with the Bryan Eagle publicizing progress as the team urged prompt payment and ongoing care to sustain the beautification effort.
A bomb explosion believed aimed at frightening non union black miners damaged a block near Elizabeth in Pittsburgh. The blast wrecked the fronts of a dozen buildings causing $50 000 to $75 000 in damage and one man was injured.

The Supreme Court reversed lower court rulings granting $1,300,000 from the estate of the late W. J. McDonald of Paris to Texas University and ordered a new trial. Cotton futures rose about 20 points and local spot prices ranged from 17 1/2 to 18 1/2 cents per pound.
Bryan Lions Club heard District Judge W. C. Davis discuss remarkable progress over twenty years. Miss Kathleen Stuart entertained with pop songs while a committee was formed to explore Lions Clubs in nearby towns. The club invited Dr. George W. Truett to attend opening services at the First Baptist Church and planned a cadet revue at A and M College.
College Station February 29 92 registered for the opening session of the second School of Co-Operative Marketing at Texas A and M College. The program runs through March 2 with many officials from the U S Department of Agriculture and University of Texas presenting papers and a banquet planned in the evening.
