Brazos River District Bill Advances After Public Hearing
A Brazos Valley water bill proposed by Rep. Leonard Tillotson of Sealy received a favorable unanimous vote in a public hearing attended by Bryan leaders including John M. Lawrence and Mrs. Lee J. Rountree. The measure would create a watershed district with taxing power, oversight by a district board, and priority for irrigation over hydroelectric power, potentially shifting control from the State Board of Water Engineers.
