Governor Dan Moody in a Dilley conference with Land Commissioner J. T. Robison warned he may trigger a legislative investigation and withdraw cooperation if Robison does not remove from the market university oil lands advertised for sale. Robison told the house that a legislative probe terrifies him as impeachment proceedings loom.
The People column discusses popular morning swimming parties at the Country Club pool and the YMCA pool in College Station. It notes health benefits and enjoyment for Bryan College and nearby communities but laments insufficient pool capacity to meet demand. It urges creating a larger swimming venue to accommodate the many eager youngsters.

Mrs. H. C. Wright of Austin and her husband Col. H. C. Wright plan to sing Thursday evening at Sue Haswell park. Wright has been a standout voice at Bryan reunions and her program number is highly anticipated.
Labor trouble is believed to have caused the dynamite explosion that wrecked the rear of the Bluebonnet Theater at Harrisburg. Detectives said several sticks of explosive were likely placed in the exhaust fan at the rear, with the damage estimated at $1000.
The Bryan water supply meets quality standards per a state board of health report dated June 25 after analysis of a random restaurant sample, confirming adequate safety for public use.

Veterans arrive in Bryan in high spirits for Hood's Texas Brigade 58th annual reunion. E. W. B. Leach of Houston, veteran of Company L, 1st Texas Regiment, jokes about reaching 100 and plans to reconnect with old comrades. L. F. Harris, also from Houston and a member of Company I, Butler's South Carolina Cavalry, is among the attendees.
The Sisters request donations of old newspapers magazines and similar paper items. A car load will be gathered by the last days in July with deliveries accepted at the academy or M F Vitopil Grocery Co. Mother Claire asks friends to help.
Austin and Texas celebrate John W. Ezelle who has just begun his 16th consecutive year as secretary of the Austin Rotary Club. Across 50 countries Rotary Clubs know no secretary with longer tenure in this role.

State highway commission at Austin awarded a 12.5 mile double bituminous surface treatment from College Station south to Haden and Austin of Houston for $27,178. Total contracts announced amounted to $1,433,200, detailing 54 miles of new construction, 23.7 miles of concrete paving, three bridges and 142 miles of maintenance work.
Rev R S Marshall pastor of the First Methodist church received word of the death of Mrs Frank Stewart of Durango Falls county at 9 o'clock this morning. He and Mrs Marshall will travel to Durango to conduct the funeral Thursday at 4 o'clock. Mrs Stewart was nearly 80 and had been a friend of the Marshall family for years.
In Berlin on June 26, M. Binet the French consul escaped death when a Lithuanian woman fired several times at the consulate. A porter restrained the assailant and the shots missed.
Chairman of the Texas state railroad commission has been secured to give the principal address at the American Legion Fourth of July celebration in Sue Haswell Memorial Park.
Foster P. Jones of Dallas Texas, aviator, was convicted of taking part in the Glen Park State Bank holdup in Gary Indiana last March. He claims he was forced into the crime while intoxicated and was wounded during the escape. sentence is set for July 2. Jones was captured after a gunfight. two accomplices fled with 7100 dollars.

Dr. S. W. Bohls, director of the Texas state laboratory, confirms poison in the viscera of Mrs. Ocle Nix. Her husband faces murder charges in connection with her death at Texarkana.
Ooie Nix a 22 year old farmer held in Paris jail was indicted for murder in the sudden death of his 17 year old wife. He was returned to Boston county jail and will face trial Thursday morning. Authorities exhumed Mrs Nix body after a dog death on the farm triggered suspicions. Vital organs were sent to Austin for examination.
Col. Charles A. Lindbergh continues a trans continental air journey with his bride to inspect the air rail system opening July 8. He serves as technical advisor for the Transcontinental Air Transport project and says the trip is for business.
Minneapolis officials announce a claim to the world's record for continued miles of flight over a set course. The aircraft "Miss Minneapolis" has logged 5,000 miles since takeoff at 5 o'clock Sunday morning, challenging the 172 hour mark set by the "Ft. Worth" refueling endurance record.
London reports the new labor government plans to resume diplomatic ties with Soviet Russia and could win broad support in Parliament. The policy aims to restore relations and trade with Moscow, with anticipated mention in the king's speech on July 2.
J W Myers convicted of robbery of N H Howard a chain store manager in Dallas County was sentenced to 99 years in prison. The Court of Criminal Appeals granted a new trial today after Myers pleaded insanity.

Scouts of Bryan Troop No 1 hosted a parents picnic at Sue Haswell Memorial Park. Scout Master W W Daup received praise as parents urged expansion of the program. Guest A R Bateman of Quanah spoke on local Boy Scout work and Rotary club support, noting four troops and 128 boys.
H. H. Williamson chairs a special Bryan Brazos County Chamber of Commerce committee to work with the American Legion fair board on the Brazos county fair planned for early November. Members include W. H. Cole C. E. Jones Travis B. Bryan and W. S. Howell with J. Webb Howell authorized to appoint.
E F B Whitehead publicity director of the West Texas Chamber of Commerce resigns to become assistant manager of the South Texas Chamber of Commerce in Corpus Christi starting July 1. He announced the move from Stamford on June 26.
Local committees report the Hood's Texas and Green's Brigades veterans arriving for the annual reunion to be held tomorrow and Friday in Bryan. The U S Department of Agriculture reports a 5 to 10 percent drop in hens in the South and West compared with a year ago, with egg production down about 2 percent nationwide.
