An ongoing heat wave across the eastern states claimed six lives in New Jersey. In New York City and surrounding areas, temperatures reached 93 degrees with higher highs anticipated as the heat persisted for a sixth day.
Senator Glass condemned the Hoover administration in the senate for submerging the prohibition enforcement issue. He charged the administration with avoiding a clear inquiry into prohibition enforcement and policy during the debate in Washington.
Partly cloudy tonight and Thursday for Bryan and vicinity. East Texas expected mostly cloudy with probable showers on the west coast SEY.
Senator Smith Brookhart and his patronage committee will travel to Texas next week to reopen investigations into federal appointments in Southern states. They will begin in San Antonio Monday night and hold testimony in Dallas.
Charles A. Lindbergh resumed duties after his marriage observing Guggenheim Fund flight tests at Mitchell Field. The event marked his return as trustee and adviser to the fund. His honeymoon ended when his motor cruiser Mouette reached Long Island.
Dallas friends relay that Julius A. Germany is critically ill at Baylor Hospital after an operation for sinus and tonsils. He suffered hemorrhages and received blood transfusions with physicians hopeful this afternoon. Germany fell ill at Georgetown during Southwestern University commencement and was later moved to Dallas and then Baylor.
Liberty report of Edward Vicker aged 12 who was shot dead when a toy pistol he played with discharged. His sister aged three and brother aged five witnessed the accident. The incident occurred in Liberty on June 19.
J. W. Sandifer and Henry George appeared before the city commission regarding street use at Robertson and 23rd for filling station purposes. Encroachments were described as temporary and to be remedied soon.
The city commission last night ordered payment of 14,490 dollars as the first installment on the new diesel engine for the power plant. Total cost of the unit delivered but not installed stands at 35,070.10 dollars.
The city commission filled three vacancies on the library board last night and all appointees accepted. New members are Mrs. Lamar Bethea, Mrs. Tom Lundin and Col. C. C. Todd.
The National Boys and Girls 4-H Club Camp broadcasts a coast to coast program from 9 to 10 p m on Saturday June 22 over NBC. Tyler Haswell the local radio dealer tunes in as club members attend from 25th Street by Haswell's Book Store with City Manager Miller permitting curbside parking. Marine Band music and speakers from Chicago New York and Washington join local winners as Dr C B Smith leads the pledge.
The first summer session meeting of the vocational and industrial teachers smoker was held on the Main building lawn Tuesday at 8 pm. From a dozen teachers it has grown to about 125 attendees. Robert D. Maltby, agricultural agent for the federal Department of Vocational Education, Washington, D C, and James Speed, editor of Southern Agriculturist of Nashville Tenn, spoke.

Marion T Myers, one of two men detained in the Theora Hix murder probe, was released at noon. Dr James H Snook remains the sole defendant. Mrs Snook faced a lengthy interrogation and collapsed during questioning while narcotics and a kitchen knife were discussed by federal authorities.
Miss Ann Bentley travels by morning bus to Houston and boats to Camp Allen near Cedar Bayou for a two week encampment. Camp Allen is run by the Texas Diocese of the Episcopal church and she will represent the Young People's Service League of St. Andrew's Episcopal parish under Miss Dorothy Fisher, diocean secretary.
Hon Robert Armstrong returned from Houston where he attended the funeral of Mrs. E B Lomax, former Bryan resident. She died at relatives home in Ennis on Monday and was buried in Greenwood Cemetery Houston beside her husband who passed away about six years ago.
The Creath Brazos Association W M A Mission Study Institute opened a three day session at First Baptist church in Navasota at 9 30 am with a large attendance and skilled teachers. Mrs S M Hunter of Bryan assisted by Mrs R J Holbert helped coordinate the program as crowds from Bryan Iola Bedias and nearby towns joined the meeting. Bryan attendees listed include Mrs R E Day Mrs J G Minkert Mrs Travis B Bryan Mrs Albert Buchanan and others.
A Brazos County councillor chosen by the East Texas Chamber of Commerce will lead the annual membership drive. He will appoint a committee in a few days. the county quota is 100 members at ten dollars each. A local business man is mentioned as involved.
J. T. Hunter of Abilene testified in Austin to defend land office commissioner J. T. Robison who faces ouster. He argued Robison used part of the one cent revalue fund for his own benefit as the committee hearings opened to refute charges of incompetency and fund mishandling.
Austin June 18 The house of representatives refused to drop the impeachment hearing against J. T. Robison commissioner of the general land office continuing the probe.
Joe H. Boggs 53 a two term member of the Ninety first District Texas House and founder of the state legislators fraternity died at his San Angelo home. He championed bills to tax county and university owned school lands and supported local fish hatchery projects. Survived by widow daughter and son. Funeral plans undecided.
Major J E Sloan of Texas A and M College argues at a Lions Club luncheon that war outcome hinges on national preparedness and rapid mobilization rather than sheer troop counts. He cites wartime planning under the assistant secretary of war and the need to convert peacetime production to war needs.
Weatherford Texas was selected as the trial venue for R. H. Hamilton in the slaying of his son in law Thomas Walton Jr. aged 21 on May 4. Attorneys agreed to transfer the case after venue changes were granted last week.

Elwell Satterwhite jailed since March 12 1928 faces possible release on bond as the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals grants a new trial. Judge Lamar Bethea said formal notice would prompt steps to secure release and a date for retrial to be set after talks with county officials. Austin June 19 C C Wells convicted in Coleman county for the murder of J A Mitchell faces electrocution in Huntsville prison tomorrow unless Governor Moody grants a reprieve or commutes the sentence. Moody provided a six day respite last week for Wells who sought to “make his peace with God.”
Seattle dispatch reports Lieutenant John S. Griffith flew 2,200 miles from San Antonio Texas in 18 hours 58 minutes with five refueling stops. He rested at his father’s home and plans a two day return trip starting tomorrow.
All arrangements are completed for a barbecue and picnic in Sue Haswell Memorial Park on Friday evening. The Bryan city commission will host the event for city employees and voluntary fire department members starting at 6 o clock with games and amusements planned. Mutton beef and pork will be barbecued.
