Dickinson State Mutual Insurance Head Re-elected Leader

Company G Meet Draws Large Sunday Crowd
A reunion of Company G 860th infantry at the American Legion Home in Bryan drew 58 members, well above last year’s 34, with total attendees around 250 to 300 including legion members and families. The event began with a morning gathering, a noon barbecue, and an afternoon program led by former first sergeant Hiram Downard of Bryan as association president.

Man Charged With Attempted Murder in Knife Attack
Alfred Irvin was charged Monday in Justice A J Buchanan's court with assault with intent to murder after a knife attack on his wife Irene Irvin. Irene Irvin reportedly was cut three times in the Saturday night fight. Irvin jailed in the county facility.

Houston Doctor Graves Seriously Injured In Car Crash
Dr. Joseph H. Graves, noted Houston physician and surgeon, was seriously injured when his car left the highway four miles south of Bryan on No 6, struck a tree, and overturned. He was alone, en route from Lorena to Houston, and taken to St. Joseph's hospital.

Old Joe Jones Charged With Attack on Hearne Girl
In Hearne and Franklin Texas a 62 year old negro, called Poor Joe Jones, is charged with attacking a 11 year old girl after threatening to kill her. Sheriff Hill reports a written confession but provides no details. The case, linked to a prior murder conviction, will be examined by the Robertson county grand jury beginning July 6.

Oil drilling starts on Fountain plantation by M R Exploration
Drilling for oil begins on the Fountain plantation in Burleson County about a quarter mile east of the plantation store. The M R Exploration Company of Austin engaged Layne Texas Company to operate a steel derrick and rotary drill rig capable of reaching 3600 feet. Tragic Brazos Drownings In Wichita Falls Picnic
Two Wichita Falls residents drown in the Brazos while a picnic party searches for them. Daniel G. Cox 24 and Dawn Holick 7 disappeared after Cox attempted to rescue the girl on a sand bar in swift currents. Fire units and volunteers scoured the river from midafternoon to night with no bodies recovered.

The head of a cat accused of rabies was sent to Austin for examination by Dr. R. Henry Harrison Jr. city health officer. The cat owned by Mrs. Charles Murray was killed after biting her boy and three others and had earlier been bitten by a dog later found rabid.
