An all day St. Joseph s Catholic church festival included the first Holy Communion for 24 parish youths with Monsignor J B Gleissner as celebrant. A 6 p m barbecue for 100 parishioners followed, then benediction and grotto procession with a Queen of the May statue dedication. Graduation for eight students from the parochial grammar school was also held.

Annual Home Coming at Steep Hollow Draws Pioneers’ Descendants
Steep Hollow church five miles east of Bryan hosted its annual homecoming Sunday at 10 30 am. The Steep Hollow Cemetery Association welcomed citizens from Brazos County and nearby towns. The gathering honored pioneers who founded the Steep Hollow community and affirmed efforts to keep the cemetery beautiful for future generations. A. W. Buchanan of Bryan, a pioneer descendant, spoke as part of the program.

T. S. Sims an 88 year old Confederate darkey living in Edge was in Bryan Tuesday to learn when Hood's Texas Brigade would hold its annual meeting. Sims served his master from 1861 to 1865 as cook doctor and nurse.

Last of Cottonwood Trees Along Main Street Felled
The final cottonwood tree from a 1872 city plantings along Main Street in Bryan is being removed by order of the city commission. The tree, once shading business fronts, is slated for removal to protect roofs after homeowner complaints. The campaign was funded by the late Col. J. W.
