Texas Wheat Plan Criticisms Spur Allocation Changes

In College Station July 24 officials with the Agricultural Adjustment Act face objections from Presi T. O. Walton and M. L. Wilson. They argue the plan discriminates against two thirds of Texas wheat counties and propose five year average yield and fall 1932 planting figures to broaden eligibility and adjust allotments to fit local conditions.

Changes in Wheat Plan Aimed at Uniform Use Across Country

The changes are intended to apply the plan uniformly to nearly every wheat grower in the country. They stress the need for cooperation from major and expanding wheat areas to reduce total acreage, and the revisions simplify the tentative plan to ease administration.

Winners of the cotton contest at A and M College, M Langston Gwin and Stewart along with Mugford and Vinson return from a European tour of cotton mills. The party left Cherbourg July 22 and head to New York by car, after visiting England, Germany, Switzerland, and France.

Phyllis Ruggles granddaughter of Mr and Mrs F D Fuller of Bryan died at her Wheaton Illinois home on Wednesday last at age 12 She had suffered ill health for about a year Funeral services were held in Wheaton on Friday Mr and Mrs Fuller and their son Nelson were visiting at the time and planned to return to Bryan soon

Brantley Trial Shifts to Belton with Sheriff Reed

Sheriff J. H. Reed and Constable Horace Reed moved to Belton on Monday for the trial of Guy Brantley on burglary charges. Brantley faces three Brazos county felony indictments and was transported to Belton for this proceeding.

4 H Club Youths Awarded Trips to AM Short Course

Four H Club members earned trips to the AM Short Course funded by the Bryan and Brazos County Chamber of Commerce. Atchison Kan July 25 Ren Bosanko 67 president of the Gold Star Mothers of Kanene died today in the city. The obituary notes his leadership role and service to veterans groups.

Darrow Family Vacation To East Will Be Taken

Mr and Mrs W H Darrow and family leave Bryan for a summer trip to New York and Illinois. Mrs Darrow and children go to New York. Mr Darrow to Urbana for business then join them. He attends the 20th annual American Agricultural College Editors Association program in Urbana July 25 to 29 with the Texas Extension Service exhibit.

Education- Progress and plans at Texas college gathering

Texas educators and officials gathered on the campus for the annual Home Demonstration Association meeting. President Walton urged national cooperation and social progress while Mrs. Anthony outlined home demonstration work and urged county-level agents. A twelve-event horse show at Kyle Field capped the day as registration topped 2,500 attendees with officer nominations underway for the association.

College short course features varied farm demos and talks

Farmers and 4-H youths attend the week long short course at the college. Extension District Six and Four hostesses from various towns and counties. Demonstrations cover wool grading, rug making, beekeeping, poultry candling, cotton management, and dairy practices. The Muenster 4-H orchestra performs nightly. speakers include Laura Breihan and Mary Wilson among others. The Agricultural Writers Conference plans a banquet Wednesday night.

State Pecan Exhibit to Brazos Co Fair

The State Pecan Exhibit prepared by the Department of Agriculture will appear at the American Legion Free Fair October 19 to 21. A department employee will staff the display and answer questions on pecan culture. The exhibit is described as an attractive feature and is part of broader fair preparations with a large premium list and expectations of more and better exhibits.

Secretary J. E. Stanford of the Bryan and Brazos County Chamber of Commerce leaves for Dallas to speak three times this week at the Southwestern Chamber of Commerce school on agricultural topics. His first address Wednesday covers Agriculture the Basic Industry of the South.

Funeral Service Held Saturday For Bryan Man

Samuel Mose Hunter born May 5 1875 of Bryan died after a brief illness at Hotel Brazos. Funeral at his cousin's home 3808 East 27th street conducted by Dr William H Andrew. Interment in Bryan cemetery. Survived by widow Maude Truett Hunter and several nieces nephews and aunts. Pallbearers listed.

Drowns in Rio Grande near Laredo

The body of 14 year old Paul Reyes was recovered after drowning yesterday in the Rio Grande while swimming with other boys. He dived into the swift current and did not surface.

Trade group leaders hear agriculture talks at Dallas session

The Southwestern Chamber of Commerce opens a five day series at the Baker Hotel Dallas with a discussion on An Agricultural Program for the Southwest followed by Coordinating Agriculture and Industry in the Southwest. About 75 chamber executives from Texas Arkansas Oklahoma and New Mexico attend as Mr Stanford plans to return to Bryan Saturday morning.
