In Columbus on July 24 Dr. James Snook a former Ohio State University professor was found guilty of first degree murder in the death of his co-ed lover Miss Theora Hix. The electric chair awaits as the penalty in Ohio.
Miss Pattie Sims and Mrs. M. W. Sims will travel to Dallas and Boulder Colorado for a September visit. Local leaders Tom Zuber and Rev Roy Holloman urge support for a Brazos County road bond. Bryan students Mick Ebelhotan and siblings George and Harvey Dorman will stay in Bryan after attending A M College.
A new text book and guide on farm machinery titled Farm Machinery and Equipment has been published by McGraw Hill of New York. Harris Pearson Smith and Daniel Scoates from Texas A and M College serve in editorial roles aiding farm equipment salesmen, extension workers, and farmers seeking labor saving devices.
A. W. Meier of Wheelock reported an automobile tire stolen. Bell Tait, described as a negro, pleaded guilty before Justice J. T. MeeGee this morning and was fined for the theft.

A Tuesday evening luncheon served as an au revoir for the Villa Maria sisters departing Bryan. Mesdames James Rainey and Robert Harrison sponsored the farewell in appreciation of the nuns long and faithful service to Bryan and nearby territory. Eighteen sisters attended as honored guests.

ST. LOUIS July 24 Pilots Jackson and O Brien completed 269 hours of continuous flying at 12 17 o clock today, surpassing the former endurance record by over 22 hours. The St Louis Robin began its twelfth day in the air at 7 am with 264 hours flown. Rewards offered to each flyer for every 24 hours aloft. HOUSTON July 24 Billion Dollar City monoplane continued past 160 hours, Loomis and Gives aiming to beat the St Louis Robin’s new mark.
E. Summers a retired Southern Pacific Lines worker returned to Houston after visiting Bryan with W. M. Foster. They reunited after 63 years from Richmond boyhood days when Summers rode two race horses named Trust and Will. Summers, now traveling often, recalled games where he walked away with all the marbles in their youth competitions.
A. F. E. Hayes pleaded guilty before Justice J. T. McGee to using a small mesh seine, fined 25 dollars and costs. A. F. E. Taylor and H. M. Hodnett face trial this afternoon, Taylor requesting a jury trial and a venire having been summoned.
A meeting at Sue Haswell Memorial Park led by Forrest Jones gathered athletic council members and ex-students to spark a Bryan High football program. W. S. Howell announced a new football field with 1,800 steel bleacher seats, and city plans include a track and baseball diamond. J. H. Freeland will design entrances as efforts to recruit students and build a team continue for the season.
Earl Ward and Alvin Stroud of Childress and Cecil Searberry of Paducah were jailed Monday night for loitering behind the Eden Gun factory and released this morning. They headed for A and M College claiming a job on a new stadium and were freed through H C Vance of Bowie who vouched for them to Sheriff J H Reed and Chief Martin.
Georgetown July 24 Delays in taking testimony in the insanity trial of Harry J Leahy were granted by agreement of attorneys to allow defense time to file a motion for a continuance related to new matters. The jury sat after late Tuesday to complete eight jurors. The condemned cattleman faces possible execution in Huntsville after a second conviction for slaying Dr J A Ramsey of Mathis Texas.
The regular monthly meeting of Penny employes at the J. C. Penny store met Tuesday evening at Sue Haswell Memorial Park and became a watermelon feast. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. E. R. In Texarkana, two men died from a pistol duel late yesterday. James Reynolds, 45, died today from his wounds after fatally shooting veteran policeman J. R. Walraven. Walraven died without able to reveal details before his death.
H C Van of Bowie Montague county says roads in Brazos are worse than Montague. He visits Bryan with wife and G O Groves of Petrolia Clay county. his family moved from Brazos in 1897 and back to Texas in 1907. He notes boll weevil damage, cotton decline, and farmers turning to truck farming and dairying. The group plans to return home tomorrow.
A social and business gathering of the Senior B Y P U at First Baptist church occurred Tuesday night at president Tom Sweeney’s home. The lawn was lit with lights, rugs and chairs, and the evening ended with a watermelon feast.
The Bryan Lions club Luncheon focused on good roads for Brazos County. Members pledged to attend the Saturday county mass meeting at 3 p.m. in the district courtroom.
