Mr and Mrs W S Higgs and Margarite Higgs with Miss Tran Nie Wrenn stay in Fort Worth with Mrs Louie Pistole formerly Miss Katherine Higgs. Mrs Frank Blue and her Independence family visit Bryan to see Albert Goodman and wife. Mrs Goodman and Mrs Blue plan to visit Judge J L Goodman in Franklin before returning home.
Miss Edge, a Bryan artist, spent several weeks in San Antonio painting from nature pictures of the old missions. She has returned to Bryan and will stay with her mother Mrs. John 8 Edge for the rest of the summer. Her works reportedly sold well during her stay.

News from Bryan reports the death of P. R. Nisbett vice president of Continental State Bank Beckville from injuries in a grade crossing wreck on Missouri Pacific tracks at Arp. He was born in Robertson County and remembered in Bryan. funeral services were held at Beckville.
Preparations are complete for the annual 4-H rally and encampment at Sue Haswell Memorial Park in Brazos County. Over 200 club members are expected to attend under County Agent C. L. Benson and Miss Lucy Givens. Scholarships to the A and M College short course will be awarded Saturday.
The film magnate W. Fox of New York was seriously hurt in an automobile crash near Roslyn New York. A chauffeur was killed and four others were injured in the accident. Fox was taken to a hospital in noncritical condition.
Houston police advised Sheriff J. H. Reed to watch for a black painted Ford with license 123414 headed toward Bryan. The sheriff planned highway patrol on No. 6 this afternoon to pursue the supposed fugitives, though no purpose for the chase was given.
Miss Clara Calhoun of Bryan city school will depart Saturday from Galveston on the S S Mohawk for New York City. She will visit Montreal and other East and North points before returning to Bryan for the September opening of school.
Dr Jno A Held former pastor of the First Baptist Mexia is in Bryan for a short visit and will conduct the evening prayer meeting at 8 pm at the First Baptist church in the absence of Rev R E Day. Held was pastor at Byron Baptist for years and many friends here welcome him back.
The Interstate Commerce Commission announced it dropped antitrust charges against the Missouri Kansas and Texas and Kansas City Southern Railroads. The case arose from their purchase of stock in other carriers deemed unauthorized. The railroads have disposed of the stock, leading to the dismissal.
Allen Academy announces J. H. Sevier will join the faculty for the new year as history instructor and athletic department assistant. He holds an A B from Howard Wayne College and pursues graduate work at Columbia University and the University of Texas toward a Master’s degree. Sevier will assist Coaches Wilson and Morrison in training the academy’s athletic teams.
Hutchinson Kansas records flood damage at 1 960 000 after survey by postmaster Thomas G Armour. He faulted city drainage neglect for the Cow Creek overflow the largest in Hutchinson history. City efforts focus on typhoid fever control with Red Cross official Albert Evans and state health secretary Earl G Brown coordinating free serum inoculations.
Picnic sponsored by Edge school trustees Will Hill Will Henry and Jno Rychlik will be held at the school house in Payne's pasture near Edge on Thursday July 25th. The public is invited to join the all day celebration and bring a well filled basket for the noon dinner under the trees.
Rev J J Tatum of this city is spending several weeks conducting revival meetings in the mountains of Tennessee. He writes Mrs Tatum that he is feeling fine and that the weather is cool and delightful there.
TAMPA Fla July 17 The Citizens Bank and Trust Company a state institution and nine other branch banks failed to open their doors today in a cascading wave of closures across Florida.
Cleveland editor Louis Seltzer and chief editorial writer Carlton Matson were held in contempt of court by Common Pleas Judge Walther and ordered jailed for 30 days and fined 500 dollars each. The judge acted on charges connected to an editorial criticizing his injunction to racing interests, with the sentence to be executed immediately.
Rumors say D. D. White and Company will take over the Ford agency from Wilson Motor Company in Bryan and Wilson will run Chevrolet in the same territory. A new DeSoto agency, previously handled by White, is also anticipated, completing three changes.

Dale Jackson and Forest OBrine, piloting the St. Louis Robin, started the fifth day of their endurance flight at 7:17 today, having been aloft 96 hours. A second plane was ready to take off for another endurance test of a motor.
In Beaumont on July 17 Jesse Simmons aged 24 was fatally burned when a kitchen gas range exploded as he tried to light it. His wife Mary Lou and children aged 4 and 2 were inside but uninjured despite the blast wrecking a side wall.
In Hempstead Harbor the Wenonah II yacht of James A. Stillman valued above 250000 burned to the waterline after an explosion. One crewman is believed killed and another injured. No Stillman family members were aboard.
The Denton School for Girls is renamed Texas State College for Women and placed above the College of Industrial Arts on all official publications. The college board of regents authorized the name change to avoid confusion with Kingsville’s College of Arts and Industries and to reflect its liberal arts status.
The cotton market rose today with futures closing 50 to 60 points higher. Local spot prices climbed to 17.50 to 17.75 cents per pound.

In Nashville on July 17 Elbert Smithson, 5, shot his wife Elnora Smithson, 52, and then cut his throat with a razor at their home. Both died before police arrival and motive remains undetermined.
