Daniel Dehart Dies in Sleep in Brazos County

Daniel Dehart longtime Brazos County resident died in his sleep Thursday night at the College and Chapel community eight miles east of Bryan. Born February 8 1847 in Itala county Mississippi he was over seventy and leaves seven married children living in Brazos Limestone Limestone Sugar Land and Navarro counties. He was a Christian Church member for thirty years and rested beside his wife in Mart.

Bryan Country Club elects officers and reports progress

At the Bryan Country Club annual meeting held at the Knights of Pythias reading rooms, W H Cole and others were elected directors. Officers chosen include President R W Howell Vice President Lamar Bethea Secretary O E Saunders and Treasurer W H Cole. J Cooper was named grounds manager. The well is being drilled and the pool should be ready in about ten days with clubhouse plans nearly finished and about thirty eight new members will join at the $100 fee rising to $200 thereafter.

Lockhart Texas July 12 Dr Hoover of General Hulens headquarters examined 108 enlisted in the local military company. Eighty three were rejected for physical deficiencies and most failures came from rural areas, challenging the belief that country boys are physically superior to town boys. Only four failures were from Lockhart and two from Luling.

Rain at Little Brazos Tuesday in Bryan area

A northwest cloud on Monday evening raised hopes of rain for Bryan, but it moved south. Bert Lyall reports a good rain at Little Brazos with a nice wetting, while Wellborn Pitts Bridge and Wheelock had none and Bryan only saw a dust storm.
