100 Killed in North Carolina and St. Louis Wreck

Mrs Anna Jahn Dies in City funeral held

Mrs Anna Jahn died at her home yesterday and her funeral was held this morning at 10 from the residence with Rev J M Bullock officiating. Interment was in City cemetery. She was born December 26 1858 in Harris county and lived in Texas all her life, mostly in Brazos county. Survived by husband August John two sons Hugo Bryan and Ernest in navy on battleship Indiana and two daughters Mrs John Fickey and Mrs W M Keller. She was a Lutheran member but no pastor was available.

The senate agricultural committee agreed on a bill to prohibit the sale of wines liquors and beer after January 1 and block manufacture after November. The measure is offered as a substitute for the Norris amendment which would halt liquor sales on June 30 1919. Export provisions for liquors already made are under consideration.

Dowling Trial Over Irish Coast Landing From German Sub

London July 8 The court martial of Corporal Jos Dowling has begun for his alleged actions after landing on the Irish coast in a German collapsible submarine. He faces charges of joining a hostile force while a POW in Germany and attempting to induce others to join and to land a hostile force in Ireland.

Philadelphia July 9 William Potter former ambassador to Italy and now federal fuel administrator for Pennsylvania says it is time to give the Italian nation credit for the great part she has played in the war. Italy remained neutral until her weakened army was strengthened and cast her lot with the allies helping hold the Huns until America entered the war.
