Topographic survey work in Texas to continue

Austin July 2 The State and Federal governments will continue the topographic surveys in Texas under the conservation and reclamation plan. The U S Geological Survey will send about forty topographers to Texas in August, though the contract starts September 1. Maj. Charles E Cooke will lead the Texas joint work with expanded jurisdiction.

University Professor Bitten by Cottonmouth Snake

De Luz Hamlett, instructor in zoology at the University of Texas, was bitten on the finger by a cotton-mouth water moccasin while sampling Texas snakes for a visual instruction project. He received prompt treatment and escaped serious harm, having previously worked on venom extraction from rattlesnakes and often handling multiple snakes during field trips.

Three Year Old Walter Young Dies In Porch Accident

Three year old Walter Stevenson Young died after accidentally falling from a porch in Conroe. He struck his neck on a timber and was found by his mother, who was in a sanitarium at the time of the fatal accident.

Dr. B Youngblood returned from the Sheep and Goat Raisers Association meeting in San Angelo where resolutions praised the A and M College Experiment Station Extension Service and School of Agriculture. About 5 000 to 6 000 attended as visitors toured the Sonora Station and heard of its progress.

Amendment to Texas Constitution for Confederate pensions

S J R No 10 proposes amending Section 51 Article 8 to allow pensions for Confederate soldiers sailors and widows who were Texas residents before 1910 with a seven cent tax per hundred dollar property value to fund the pension and home aid. The measure sets election details for November 1924 and appropriates funds for publication and election costs.
